Chapter Eight
Liam's POVAs the edges of my vision started to blur and I was beginning to feel light headed. There was a loud crack and both me and Yaser was staring at my uncle Desmond "release the boy Yaser" demanded my uncle. Yaser did but It really had nothing to do with obeying my uncles wishes and more to do with wanting to fight him.
A flood of oxygen rushed to my lungs as I hit the cold, hard floor. I coughed and spluttered as I found it extremely hard to catch my breath. From the floor I now had a clear view of my uncle. He was here but at the same time not, he was sort of transparent, like a ghost.
"Desmond" growled Yaser. The two huge men were now back in their feet and charged at my uncle at the same time but they simply passed through him and collided with each other.
"Not very bright, are they?" His voice had returned to its usual calm tone as his ghostly figure stepped out of the unconscious bodies.
"What do you want Desmond?" Asked Yaser, his voice too no scarily calm.
"My nephew if you please" the gestured to me still laying on the floor gazing between them not daring to move.
"Out of the question" said Yaser hoisting me up by my collar, but my legs were now weak and I was completely supported my his grip "you see not only was he found on my land but he also attacked my son, so now he dies" my heart leaped to my throat as I stared at my uncle silently begging him to save me.
"Come now Yaser, there will be no need for that" he said calmly. I felt a twinge of anger in my chest, for god sake I'm your nephew show some passion "and I can ensure you that Liam here did not attack your son" he said. the two brutes were once again back on their feet and rushing my uncle "we don't have time for this" there was another loud crack and a flash or bright blue and the two of them went soaring out the door which closed behind them.
"First he attacks my son and now you attack my guards" Yaser's voice was anything but calm now "this is grounds for war Payne" I felt my collar twist and tighten round my neck but not yet cutting of the flow of air.
"Nether of us want that" said Desmond now sounding forceful "bring the boy to the alters and I'll explain there why he didn't attack your son" there was yet another loud crack and my uncle was gone.
Reluctantly Yaser approached the alter steps dragging me in his wake. When we reached the top we found both my uncle and my parents standing there.
"Brought back up Desmond?" Yaser chuckled, holding me even tighter so I couldn't escape to the safety of my parents.
"Believe me they'll do nothing" said my uncle with a warning glance to my father.
"Then please tell me why I should surrender the boy" Yaser demanded and shook my arm as to tease them. I let out a little yelp when he pulled me back.
"Because you life depends on it!" Roared my father his face now scarlet with rage. He marched forward but before anything could happen uncle Desmond raised his arm and my father was pulled back to his side.
"There will be none of that in here" he said sternly but my father tried to push past him again "brother please, I'm sure once Yaser hears what I have to say Liam will be returned to us free of harm" Yaser stared at him not saying a word but waiting on him to continue.
"Yaser, I am sorry to hear of the attack on you son but again I can ensure you it was not Liam here" Yaser glanced at me but still didn't utter a word "you see unknown to each set of parents Liam and young master Zayn have become very good friends" there was a snort and we all looked at my dad.
"My son friends with a Malik" he began to laugh but soon feel silent when his eyes land on me. I gave a small nod and his face ignited once again with rage "impossible! The curse prevents any sort of friendship between us" he yelled "I'm surprised it allowed the treaty"
"I believe-" my uncle Desmond as if he was never interrupted "that the cruse doesn't not affect the boys" Yaser's eyes once again flicked at me and then he finally spoke.
"How is that possible?" He asked now rather calm, so much so that his grip had loosened to the point I could easily escape but I thought it wise not to try it.
"I don't know but tell me Yaser" Desmond said strolling forward "when the rest of you clan is the purest of black, does Zayn bare markings" Yaser nodded clearly curious of what my uncle had to say "and pray tell are they the same markings your sister -Delvena- once held" he nodded again, this time completely letting go of my arm but I dared not move.
"Well you see where the curse has turned me and the rest of my people solid white Liam here" he gestured to me "holds the pale blue markings I once sported in my youth" a silence fell as everyone was immersed in my uncles theory.
"As you know all curses have a loophole and I believe these two boys are ours" everyone was now staring at me as if the wanted something spectacular to happen.
"May I suggest an amendment to the treaty" everyone one gazed at my uncle as if he was crazy "we allow this friendship to flourish in hopes that it breaks the curse and also permit both Liam here and young Zayn to cross freely between lands"
"Are you out of you mind?" Yelled my father now standing in front of his brother "I will not allow this" they glared at each other for a moment.
"Well fortunately it isn't your decision now is it" my dad reddened with anger again as my uncle Desmond stared lazily at him clearly not intimidated at all "the friendship will never truly cement itself if they have to sneak around and hide it" he stepped round my dad to once again talk to Yaser "hopefully as the friendship grows in the open it will be able to spread and we could be rid of this curse once and for all"
"What do you say Yaser?" Yaser was looking from me to my uncle then sighed.
"Very well"he said to my utter surprise. He nodded to me to return to my family which I happily did. My mother engulfed me in the tightest hug I've ever felt "but only the boys!" Said Yaser loudly "no one else crosses" he was looking my uncle dead in the eye now.
"Agreed" uncle Desmond stretched out his hand and Yaser took it before turning to walk away.
"Wait" I yelled and he froze looking over his shoulder "can I see Zayn" I asked but he looked at me as if I was pushing my luck with the new found freedom already "I can heal him" I quickly added and he nodded. I tried to follow him but my mother held me tightly "I'll be okay" I said with pleading eyes and with one last worried look he released me and I followed Yaser back to his home.
