Over the course of a month with mornings and nights searching for Sam's missing friend Ava Wilson, they hadn't come across the groundbreaking discovery with her desertion and Sam was becoming more distressed as the days continued onward. It'd been after Sam was located and saved the restrained Dean and Odessa when they pursued Sam's suspicions of something being wrong with Ava. They had discovered Ava's fiance deceased body soaked in his own blood with sulfur dusted across the windowsill. Then, much to his dismay, Sam came across Ava'a discarded engagement ring.
Odessa, with as much sympathy she could muster, offered to purchase the three of them freshly brewed coffee, to which both brothers joyously accepted; however, it was Dean who suggested he accompany her to ease his boredom. She didn't complain, taking pleasure with his presence, and exited the room with him side-by-side. She chose overlook Sam's beaming expression as Odessa and Dean smiled bashfully at one another, concluding he resembled a mother seeing their daughter in a wedding dress for the first time.
The mid-December weather was brisk and the breezes were unnaturally freezing as they crossed the desolate streets with only sweaters and their radiating warmth to keep them from shivering. Although Sam hadn't uncovered this meaning of his abilities, and his friend was missing, but things were going fine. Sam hadn't shown any visible signs of wanting to leave again, even though Odessa had countless conversations with him regarding how he was feeling. Somehow, his brief departure brought them even closer together.
