Book: Basic Instinct
Chapter 10: Teenage Werewolf
Word Count: 2038Buffy and Willow sat at their table at the Bronze, watching as the people around them squished cockroaches for their free drinks. Willow smiled, trying to find one of her own with her eyes, "ah the fumigation party." Buffy looked at her confused. "It's an annual tradition. The closing of the Bronze for a few days to nuke the cockroaches."
Buffy nodded her head interestingly, "oh."
"It's a lot of fun." Willow said before noticing Buffy wasn't paying attention. "What's it like where you are?"
Buffy looked away from Alec who was across the room, playing pool with some guy from school. "I'm sorry, I was just... thinking about things."
Willow glanced between Buffy and Alec, "so, we're talking about a guy?"
"Not exactly a guy. For us to have a conversation about a guy, there'd have to be a guy for us to have a conversation about. Is that a sentence?"
"You lack the guy you want to be with." Willow smiled sympathetically at her.
"I do." The slayer sighed, resting her chin on her hand. "I just wish me and Alec could move past the friendzone. When he is around... it's like the lights dim everywhere else. You know how it's like that with some guys?"
"Oh, yeah!" Willow exclaimed, looking at Xander who was dancing on the dance floor.
After his pool game finished, Alec looked back over at his table, only to see Buffy had left. He pouted his lips and made his way over, wishing she hadn't gone.
"She left about five minutes ago. You can still catch up to her." Willow said as if she was reading his mind.
Alec smiled gratefully at her, "thanks Will." He said before making his way out of the Bronze quickly.
He only made it a couple streets down before he saw something that made his eyes glow angrily. Buffy was fighting three vampires and it looked like they were overtaking her.
One of the vampires was just about to sink his fangs into Buffy's neck but Alec got there before he could, grabbing a fist full of hair, "that's no way to treat a lady." He snarled before punching the vamp roughly in the face.
That didn't seem to sit to well with the vamp and Alec felt himself be tackled to the ground but he didn't give up so easily, kneeing the vamp in the gut and throwing his off, snap kicking the other that tried to punch him.
"Look out!" Buffy screamed in time for Alec to get slashed across the chest by a metal iron bar. He howled in pain, rolling out of the way before he could get stabbed again.
Buffy side kicked the vamp in the face and ran to Alec, helping him stand up, "run!"
And so they did, he and Buffy ran as fast as they could until they reached her house, slamming the door behind them and locking it. Buffy looked out the window worriedly.
