Alec walked down the halls of Sunnydale High, holding a slayers hand as they went to her locker and talked about her dad, who was coming and getting her for the weekend. "So, do you see your dad a lot?" Willow asked.

"Not a whole lot." Buffy answered her. "He's still in L.A. He, like, comes down for weekends sometimes."

"When did they get divorced?" Willow asked.

"Well, it wasn't finalised till last year, but they were separated before that." Buffy sighed as they reached her locker.

"Must have been harsh." Willow said.

"Yeah, that's the word you're looking for." Buffy starts to put in her locker combination. "I-I mean, they were really good about it around me, anyway, but still..."

"My parents don't even bicker. Sometimes they glare. Do you know why your folks split up?"

Buffy opens her locker. "I didn't ask. They just stopped getting along. I'm sure I was a really big help, though, with all the slaying and everything. I was in so much trouble. I was a big mess." She whispered, looking down at the floor sadly.

"Hey, you know it's not your fault right?" He questioned. She nodded her head but it wasn't convincing at all. He leaned forward and placed a kiss on the side of her head.

"Actually... I was hoping you'd want to meet him before I go. I mean, I want to tell him about you and he'll want to know who's dating his little girl." Buffy looked up at him sweetly. "Y-You can say no... but it would mean a lot to me if you said yes."

Alec froze for a second. Sure he had met Joyce but that was when he and Buffy had only been friends. He had never done the whole meet the parents things before. He chuckled nervously. It wasn't like he could say no either. Not with the way she was looking at him. "Um, sure. Sounds great."

She jumped up excitedly and kissed him. "Thank you!"

The three began their walk to class. The whole time Alec was thinking about Buffy's dad. Would he act like his usual self or try hard to impress him? Did Mr. Summers opinion really matter? Of course it did. He was Buffy's father. Oh god this sucks.

As they walked into the classroom, Xander came up to them, pointing behind him at a guy with a ponytail. "Uh, Wendell was in Cordelia's light."

Alec looked behind them to see Cordelia fixing her makeup in little mirror. He shook his head with a laugh. "Oh no, the horror."

"I'm so ashamed." Wendell continued.

"Why is she so Evita-like?" Willow asked.

"I think it's the hair." Buffy joked, making the others laugh.

"It weighs heavy on the cerebral cortex." Willow said. Alec looked at her confused, having no idea what she just said.

"Hey, guys, was there any homework?" Xander asked.
