Alec stood by the lockers next to his girlfriend, head leaned down to rest on top of hers and smelling her sweet shampoo. He was tired. Usually he was only this tired after he shifted but ever since the whole incident with that little boy giving them real nightmares, he hadn't got a good nights sleep.

He couldn't stop thinking about what he saw. Giles, Willow, Xander, Buffy. All dead because of him. Because he killed them. Because he couldn't control himself.

He didn't realise that his grip on Buffy had grown tighter and he squeezed his eyes shut. Being close to her made him feel better. The only problem was now she knew something was wrong with him.

"You good?" She asked, easily reaching up to run her hands through his hair. He whined quietly and leaned into the touch. He wished he could get her to sleep over. Maybe then he could actually sleep peacefully. They weren't at that stage in their relationship yet though so he couldn't just ask.

He nodded his head with a tired smile. "Never better." He lied. She gave him a look but didn't push it, only because Willow and Xander were by them and she knew he definitely wouldn't talk about how he was feeling with them listening.

"Here's a chocolate..." Cordelia spoke brightly, holding out a wrapped chocolate for them to take. Buffy went to grab it but she pulled her hand back quickly. "I was talking to Alec. No you. I don't think I need the loony-fringe vote."

Alec rolled his eyes at her as she handed him the chocolate. He didn't even like chocolate.

"Well, I-I don't even like chocolates." Buffy said as Cordelia walked away. She grimaced at what she said. "Okay, that was the lamest comeback of our times."

"Here. This will make you feel better." He grabbed her hand and opened it, placing the sweet in her palm.

She pouted. "Thank you."

"What's she up to?" Xander asked.

"Bribery. She's desperate to be May Queen." Buffy answered.

"And she'll win." Alec said, looking down the hall at Cordelia who was walking up to nearly everyone and giving them a chocolate. "She knows how to sweet talk when she wants to." He really didn't think she was that bad until he saw how she acted towards Buffy.

Willow and Xander began talking about a trip they went on in sixth grade, laughing and reminiscing about something funny. Alec hadn't moved here yet so he had no idea what they were talking about. Neither did Buffy.

"Maybe we should leave these two on their own. Their acting like nerds." He whispered teasingly into Buffy's ear. She giggled and hit him on the chest.

Willow and Xander finally calmed themselves down and apologised for leaving them out of the conversation. Alec didn't care but it seemed Buffy was feeling a bit left out.
