Percy POV

So Annabeth and I had been dating since I was sixteen and a few months ago I turned twenty. Annabeth graduated from her architect school that summer as well, and I got my degree in Marine Biology. We began living together not long after we graduated high school. I loved Annabeth and I knew I could never live my life without her, so I decided to take it to the next step. I was going to go get a ring and for better or worse I would marry my Wise Girl...

We were having a picnic in the park one day just talking and being lazy when Annabeth mentioned about how she got an invitation to a wedding from one of our high school friends from Goode. She had a sort of longing on her face when she said it and at the time I was confused, but I got it now. Annabeth wanted to get married! Even thinking about it now made me really nervous because even though I know she loves me... What if she said no? I would love Annabeth no matter what and I know she loves me but what if she wasn't ready and I was insane? I just don't know. But insane or not I was going to do it. So I called the most knowledgeable person I knew when it came to this sort of stuff. At first she didn't pick up but I was relieved when I finally heard, " Hello Percy!"

" Hey Mom. So I was just wondering if you would help me with something?" I asked. "Of course honey!" Was her response. I was hesitant on how to say this because I knew exactly what would happen when I told her. " Well Mom I need your help picking out a ring." She gasped. " An engagement ring?" She questioned excitedly. I nodded and then remembered I called her, " Yeah Mom now- " I was cut off by a scream so loud that I had to hold the phone away from my ear for a second. Geez I should probably have Chiron check for nerve damage in my ears or something now. "Oh sorry Percy! I am so sorry but I was just waiting for the day when you finally decided to marry Annabeth!" Finally decided to marry her? We were only 20 for the gods sakes. I voiced this to my mother and heard a sigh that meant she was the mother so she knew what was best. " Sweetie it's just, you and Annabeth have been through so much and have been together for so long" I could hear her sniffling, so it wasn't hard to guess she was going to start crying if I didn't do something.

" So Mom," I said steering her towards helping me again, " Would you go with me to pick out a ring for her? I don't know what's best or what Annabeth would like or" I continued babbling on until she agrees to go with me. " But!" She added " I also want you to take me out to lunch okay?" I chuckled. "Alright. I think I can do that. Saturday?" I asked. "Saturday" she confirmed. After hanging up I realized today was Thursday and I had to wait two days now. Two days that I would have to spend with Annabeth and *not* tell her. This was going to be killer....

"Percy!" Annabeth said quite forcibly. I snapped my head up. " Huh? What?" I had been lost in thought thinking about Saturday. Should I wait after I get the ring? Should I just take her out to dinner that night? What about- "Percy!" she snapped again. "What is wrong with you tonight? Your not paying attention to me at all, you have hardly said a word since I walked in." she was clearly frustrated with me. Opps. " Sorry Annabeth I uh, have this big work thing coming up and I'm just kind of stressed about it." Work thing? Oh yeah like *that's* original. She raised an eyebrow at me. I was always envious. I could never do that! I actually use to sit in my bathroom and practice in the mirror.. Oh great I was rambling again and her face said she was waiting for me to answer her.

"What was that?" I asked. She rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath. " I said, do you want to watch a movie?" Oh. A movie. Yeah! Not a lot of talking, and I could totally space and she would never know. I smiled at her, " How about Nemo?" I suggested, She sighed. I shrugged sheepishly. It was my favorite and we watched it all the time. "Fine!" she said mumbling things under her breath again, but then she kissed my cheek and smiled so I knew it was all in good fun. As soon as the movie started Annabeth curled up into my side and was asleep before Nemo even touch the butt. I watched her sleep, running my fingers through her blonde curls. When I first met Annabeth I thought looked like some princess. Then she was a pain in the γάιδαρος but eventually we got past that whole thing. And now here we are hundreds of battles later, still together. Just like I hoped we would always be...
