caroline's pov

all i remember was the blackness that had surrounded me. now i heard the steady beep of the heart thing. i dont know what its called and i really dont care. the blackness still surrounded me, due to the fact that i couldnt open my eyes. they were to heavy. i tried to move my fingers a little, and turns out that i can. i couldnt move any other part of my body though. the soreness from everthing that happened that day kicked in. as did the memories of my family. they were there one minute and gone the next. a tear had slipped down my cheek through my closed eyes and pictures just flowed through my mind.

i then heard the door click open as five pairs of feet came in. i knew exactly who they belonged to. "caroline? caroline? can you hear me?" louis asked. i quietly moaned to signify that i had. thats when i forced my sleepy eyelids open.his blue eyes lit up when i did and i tried to smile. i got a small smile from my attempt but that was all right. i gota bigger smile as everyone surrounded my hpspital bed.

"how long have i been out?" i asked, grogily.

"about a week and a half." liam replied.  i smiled at that because that meant i missed a week of school and got to sleep so yeah. then again, i have a broken ankle, a few broken ribbs, got shot in the shoulder and whatnot. then my shoulder started hurting really badly, but i tried to keep that hidden.  my eyes still wanted to be closed and my ankle had also started hurting. "if you still need to rest, go ahead and we'll leave you be for a while and get lunch." liam said, noticing my half closed eyes and louis, who was standing right next to my head, kissed my forehead. i slightly smiled at them and gratefully closed my eyes, still hearing their whispers.

louis' pov

we had walked into carolines room just as she had woken up. as soon as niall, who was at the back of the pack, walked in, her eyes opened. they looked like they had just wanted to fall back to closing again (that did not make any sense but oh well). she looked half dead and there were bruises all over her face. i saw pain flash in her eyes at times but i could tell she was trying to ignore them. she asked a few questions, sounding tired so we let her sleep. as i watched her beautiful bright blue eyes close, i instantly felt sorry for her. then i realized that i had a date tonight with elonore. i mentally groaned as we all trudged out the door.

"i think we should all get her something that would make her feel better!" niall exclaimed.

"i call gettimg the big fluffy bear!" zayn replied, half screaming.

"im getting the chocolates." harry said. over the week, we had discovered that she had a huge sweet tooth. if there was something sweet in sight, she was there, eating it. i was going to get her a stuffed animal, possibly a dog with balloons wrapped around it. i smiled at the thought. while thinking about getting her a present, i thought of Eleanor and decided on getting her something too.

it has now been three hours and caroline is still sacked out. we had occasionally taken peeks in her room just to see. we had all gotten her presents by mow and i was about  to go on my date. i was in a nice shirt with red trousers, and of course, suspenders. (i know he doesn't really wear that stuff anymore, but he really needs to! and i like picturing him in his old trademark outfit. XD)  as soon as i walked to my car that i had borrowed and drove to the place the boys, el, little mix, and i were staying, i saw Eleanor waiting outside for me. as soon as i drove up, i got out and, like a gentleman, opened the door for her. she gratefully smiled and i got in and drove to the restaurant we were staying at. we were in a private area and ate in peace. we were now taking a stroll outside, bundled up in coats and all to keep warm. as she was looking at something, i gently slipped the necklace around her and she looked a bit surprised. the necklace, i had gotten it made just for her, said "infinite Eleanor"  she looked at it, turned, and smiled up at me.

"thank you lou!" she said, just before she kissed me. once we broke apart, she said, "i love you"

"i'll love you for infinity," i replied and kissed her again.

soon enough, the date ended and i headed back to the hospital. it had been a good two hours and i bet she was awake by now. as soon as i walked into her room with my gift, the other boys followed. she was awake and looked sad. but as soon as she realized we were in the room, her face brightened up. niall had this huge stuffed bear. and i mean HUGE. it almost didnt fit through the door! because of the bear, she laughted and laughed for a good five minutes once she heard what i said. it said some pretty weird stuff and i think it was from a book she read because we noticed thwt she really loved tthe divergent series. after she stopped she said, "ow that hurt." and laughed agai, then made a face. "i really need to stop laughing because it HURTS!!!" with that, we all laughed a d she had to surpress her laughter.

"niall slapped the bear again and it said something wlse, and caroline quoted it. there was a guy's voice that said, "smell that, stiff?"

"no" it was a girls voice.

"thats the smell of your burning flesh." the guy said. while caroline said the same thing.

"you know what i smell?" the girls voice was there again."i smell rain" then we heard a bit of thundr as caroline made this very creepy face. then laughed, then laughed more in pain then finally stoped because of the pain.  we all looked at her like she was crazy.

"yall just wont ever understand my love for the series. speaking of the series, can you bring insurgent with you tomorrow so i have something to do besides sit here all day, bored out of my mind?" we all knew that she had already finished the first book. she wouldnt put it down at the resort. in starbucks, drinking coffee of tea or hot coco amd reading divergent. in tue elevator, reading divergetn. everywhere she went, she had the book with her until she was finished with the book. now we all know we wouldnt really be able to talk to her with her book but harry agreed to do so. that night we had all given her her gidts, and she had to eat hospital food, that poor child, and we talked for about a few more hours about random things. at one point she trid to tell us the story of tris and what happened in the book then gave up because she always had too much detail. yeah, book summarys or reports, not her thing.

soon enough, we had to leave and go to sleep after she conked out on us. she had cuddled as best she could, into the big green bear that said random lines from the book, and fell asleep..

i hadnt realized how tired i was until my head hit my pillow and i wrapped my arms around the swwet sleeping eleanore, closed my eyes, and fell into a deep sleep.
