Fuck.

Fuck.

Fuck.

My soulmate's a hunter?!

How fucking ironic. My eyes traveled down to his hand and he was holding a silver stake. As an elder's daughter, I was trained to fight to my breaking point, and my fears were driven out of me. All my life, I had never felt fear. Except right now. I was used to seeing and fighting hunters with poisoned stakes, but the sight of my soulmate holding a stake, I wanted to curl up in a ball and just cry. I looked back at his eyes, and I think he felt what I felt because right then, he put the stake back in his belt and hid it. He looked at me apologetically. I just looked at him.

He took one step forward, wanting to get near me, and while he did, I took a step back. My eyes widened, and his eyes were filled with pain. Who would want their soulmate to back away when all they want was to get near you? I couldn't bear it any longer, I turned my heel and to my luck, found Elena. "Elena, I have to go." I said loudly as the music was still on full blast. "What?! No! Ari, please stay." She pleaded. She was taken aback when she saw that my eyes were on the brink of tears. No one has ever seen me cry, not even her.

"Okay. Go home safe. Okay? Text me when you get home. We'll talk at school." Elena hugged me and then off I go. I practically ran from the club to the manor. Fate was cruel. As I was nearing the gate, I heard footsteps nearby following me. How did I not notice this before? I scolded myself. I stopped dead in my tracks and quickly unsheathed my dagger in my boots and launched at the intruder. I pinned him to a tree with my elbows in his neck and the knife in his chest.

My eyes were met with a soft gazing blue eyes. The only emotion I could see in his eyes were pure adoration. "Hi." He said, despite my attempt in choking him with my elbow. Oh, his voice that makes the heaven sigh and the angels sing from above. I could listen to it all day. "What are you doing here?!" I tried to hide the emotion in my eyes, but it was impossible with him. With my soulmate. "I wanted to talk to you." He said, eyes pleading and hands in surrender. I sighed. I looked to my left, then to my right, making sure no one was watching. "Not here." I grabbed his hand and electricity surged from our hands to my body. We both stiffened. I shifted as far away as I can, bringing him with me.

"Whoa. That's new."

He said holding his head and attempting to balance. We were a few feet away from the edge of a cliff. I pointed to a tree and said, "Climb." He willingly obliged. We were almost at the top. We both sat at a sturdy branch side by side. "So..." He began. I glared at him. "Why did you follow me?" I asked. "Because I felt something I have never felt before when I saw you." He said simply. My gaze softened. "You do know what I am, don't you?" I asked, not looking him in his eyes. I was ashamed of what I am. A blood sucking parasite. He nodded.

"It doesn't matter to me what you are. I just wanted to know your name." He softly put his hand on top of mine. I usually despise any form of contact but to him, I couldn't bring myself to move my hand. And when our skins touched, the electricity began again. "Do you feel that?" He asked. I nodded. "I'm sure as a hunter, you've studied all about us, right?" I looked at him intently. He nodded at me. "Soulmate." He said. One word, and everything fell into place. The muscles in my belly clenched, as it did before. I have never ever felt this before.
