Another Love Story?

chapter 3

~person from a near-by home~

Person: Hello.. Hello operator.. I need to report an accident.

Operator: Sir, calm down... where is your location?

Person: uhh.. East Ave. right before Charles st.

Operator: Ok, How many people are injured?

Person: One... A girl.. She looks young.. The other guy drove off

Operator: Is she responsive?

Person: No.. she's just laying there

Operator: is she breathing?

Person: uhh.. yess but barley..

Operator: ok.. help will be there soon

Before the neighbor could put his phone away, an ambulance was in view. She arrived at the hospital in less than 20 minutes.

~a few hours later~

Paytynn's dad comes running into the hospial along with her sisters & older brother screaming " WHERE'S MY DAUGHTER!!?? WHERE'S MY DAUGHTER!!??". The lady behind the desk leads him to her room where she laid on the bed, covered in wires and bandages. She also had a splint on her arm. Her dad ran to the side of the bed, drownding in tears as her two sisters Montanna-Lynn (6) and Jordyn (4) stood in the doorway, clinging to their older brother Carsyn (19).

"Carsyn, what's wrong with sissy Pay" Jordyn questioned.

"She got hurt really bad"

"She has big boo-boos?'

"Yepp.. a lot..'

Jordyn ran over to her sister and kissed her arm and leg and said "All better". Then Montanna-lynn ran over and said "wake up sissy Pay.. it's time to go home". When Paytynn didn't respond Montanna-lynn looked at her brother with a confused face and said "we need to go home.. why isn't sissy Pay waking up?". At that moment Austin came bursting in the room to see Mr. Miller in tears and the girls staring with confused looks at their brother.

~Austin's p.o.v. before the crash~

I was just walking through the door when I saw my mom sitting on the couch with the phone in her hand and a saddend look on her face.

"Mom, are you ok? What happened?" I asked extremly worried.

"Before I tell you this, promise me you will stay calm.."

"I promise now tell me what happened"

"Well there was an accident.. and it involves umm.."

"who mom?"

"She's ok.. well some what, but she has a sprained wrist and a couple of cuts and bruises.. but she's unresponsive.."

" WHO IS IT!!??'

"... It was... Paytynn..."

"OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!! WHERE IS SHE!??! WHERE DID IT HAPPEN!??! WHY!!?? I'VE GOT TO GO SEE HER!! OH MY GOD!!"

Before my mom could answer me, I was out the door and running down my street. I had to go see her. It wasn't to far away anyway. I just wanted to be there.. with her. I finally got to the hospital and ran through the doors. Immediatly the lady behind the desk asked if i was there to see Paytynn Miller. I nodded my head and she told me the room number and the floor.. I didn't bother to take the elevetor. It would take to long. So I ran up the stairs all the way to the 4th floor. I seen Carsyn standing outside of the door and ran even faster. When I got into the room, the look on her sisters face killed me. I knew they didn't understand why their sister was hurt and why she wasn't talking to them.

"Why is she broken?! what happened?! Will she be ok?! Will she live?! Why is nobody answering me?!"

Carsyn pulled me out into the hallway.

"She is gonna live, she's just in a coma right now. When she wakes up, she won't remember anything."

"Will she be like that forever?"

"No.. The doctor said that it should only last for a little while..."

" Can we go back to the room.. I just need to see her"

Carsyn nods and we head back to the room and he leaves me there to go join his dad and sisters in the waiting room. I sit at the side of her bed, holding her hand in both of mine when I start tearing up. I can't stand seeing her like this.. all hurt and broken. I lay my head on her arm when she mumbles something. I pulled my head up and stared in shock. She was waking up! She slowly opened her eyes and everything felt almost better. Until she looked around confused. I thought she would eventually figure out where she was.. until she ask me the one question I wasn't expecting to hear..

"who are you?"

I wiped my tears "It's me.. Austin.. your best friend, please remember me Paytynn.. please"

She gave me a confused look. I was hurt. It felt like I was being stabbed in the back and the knife kept turning... My best friend, the one person I cared about the most didn't even know who I was.
