A week went by, then two. The hardest part was lying to my parents. I mean, it's not like I could tell them that the same Shadow I'd obsessed with my entire life had taken my brother. They'd put me in a mental hospital. Then how could I save Jake? I had to get him back. I'd never be able to forgive myself if I didn't.I scoured the book whenever I could. I looked for any other way to get to Neverland. But it seemed that the only way was that horrible Shadow. At some point, I realized that it was most likely pointless.
"Bekka? It's dinnertime." I jumped at the sudden appearance of my little brother Charlie.
"I'm not hungry," I snapped. Sighing, I turned to him. "Sorry, Charlie. I shouldn't have snapped. But I'd rather not eat."
"But you haven't hardly eaten anything since he disappeared. And we got Panda Express. It's your favorite."
"Charlie, thank you, but maybe later. Right now I have to figure out how to get Jake back," I walked over to the desk where the book was. All of a sudden, an idea struck me. "Hey, Charlie, I am feeling hungry. Could you bring me some food? Also, you should bring up some food for yourself. I have an idea." Charlie grinned and left.
A few minutes later he returned, takeout boxes in one hand, wooden chopsticks in the other.
"So, you gonna tell me your idea or not?" As he handed me some chopsticks and a box of orange chicken, I began.
"Well, all the answers are in this book here," I said, pointing to my desk. Charlie walked over and picked it up.
"Neverland? Bekka, Neverland is only a story. It's not real."
"Yes it is. I saw the Shadow take Jake. He called it, and it came. But then it put him under this........trance. I don't know exactly. But the point is, I saw it, and I couldn't stop it. But I need to save him. I need to go to Neverland. But the only way I'll get there is with your help. Please Charlie," I begged.
I could tell that his nine year old brain was turning, thinking. "Please, Charlie. You are my only hope."
"How am I your only hope? I'm nine." His question was pretty valid.
"That's okay. Age doesn't matter for this task. All I need you to do, is call the words 'I believe' out your window, and I'll do the rest."
"But I definitely do not believe."
"You don't have to. I'll believe enough for the both of us. How's that?" After a few moments of thought, Charlie finally spoke.
"Fine, I'll do it. But only because with you gone for a while, Mom might get Chinese food more often," he smiled, lifting up his box. Then his smile dissipated. "What am I gonna tell Mom and Dad?" I thought for a minute before answering.
"Tell them that I went looking for Jake. It's the truth." Charlie frowned, but then shrugged and went along with it. I could tell that he wasn't sure about this whole thing, but that didn't really matter. What mattered is that I got my family back together.
We planned for a couple hours, then I packed up for my trip. I stuffed some clothes into my backpack, but a lot of it was food. In case I didn't end up in Neverland. Which was a possibility. The Shadow might decide to drop me in the middle of nowhere.
Finally ready, I took Charlie to the window, and he said his lines. The Shadow came again, but this time, I was ready. Grabbing hold of the Shadow, I turned my head and waved goodbye to my little brother. So now it's off to Neverland.
(A/N) Yooooo guys it's been a while. Oh well. How's it going in your lives? Have any of you watched the newest ep of the Flash? I did, and I am actually quite pleased. S3 isn't going so great, but this episode killed it. It was amazing!
