My mom wanted me to make friends so she's trying to force me into going to this art thing the local library's hosting. I was okay with this until I read the form. It had this typical ms paint neon anime girl and underneath it said "do you like to draw anime, make manga, and make collages? Then come join us at the blah blah blah!"
I would be cool with this if it was just watching anime or even reading manga ( you know LIBRARY STUFF) but no, I knew it was going to be just Japanese styled art-something I personally am trying to break away from. It just attracts the wrong kind of people when I'm in public.
So I told my mom no thanks and she says, "Just look beyond the weird picture! It's the stuff you draw!"

I couldn't help but feel kind of bummed, I wanted my art to be individual-not falling under this stereotypical label. And as though things couldn't get more awkward for me she added, " You need friends! You can't make any-" Then I tuned her out and just nodded, I ended up turning it down though. I feel kind of bad though, I'm setting a bad example for aspiring artists. You're meant to mingle and meet with fellow artists as much as possible but I just didn't like the sound of this particular opportunity.
If you draw in an anime style ( cough cough, me) PLEASE FORGIVE ME
