"Mom!" Candace called. "Phineas and Ferb are leaving without me again!"
"No we're not," Phineas said. The two brothers were standing at the door, waiting for their sister to finish making her lunch.
"Candace, what's the problem now?" her mother sighed as she walked downstairs.
"Nevermind..." she groaned. She finished wrapping her sandwich in aluminum foil and stuffed it into her lunchbox, zipping it up rapidly. "Bye mom!"
Candace raced out the door, leaving Phineas and Ferb behind. They looked back at their mother. "We'll see you this afternoon."
"Alright. Have a nice first day!"
With that, the two sprinted out of their house and down the street to where Candace was at. She was on her phone, talking to someone.
"Yeah, I know. What class do you have first period? Second? Third?"
"Who are you talking to, sis?" Phineas asked.
"None of your business!" she snapped. "No, not you. I was talking to my brother - oh, okay. I'll see you at school then." She put her phone in her pocket and looked over at Phineas. "Do you see what you did? I was talking to Jeremy and you had to come by and ruin it!"
"Sorry. I just wanted to -"
"Ruin everything? You did a pretty good job at that! Now leave me alone for the rest of the day."
Phineas looked at Ferb, who shrugged. The trio remained silent for the rest of the walk to highschool. Once they got there, Candace stormed off to the front of the building.
"Wow. I didn't know she was that angry," Phineas commented.
"Hey, Phineas!" a voice yelled. Phineas looked around to see a familiar figure running up to him. Once she got closer, he could make out that she was his friend, Isabella. "Where ya goin'?"
"Oh, me and Ferb are going to our advanced math class for first period. Where are you going?"
"I'm going to English!" she answered. "Hey, where's Perry?"
"I don't know. I didn't see him at all today..."
"Hey, Isabella! Hurry up!" a girl shouted.
"Sorry, that's my friend. I promised I would walk to class with her. See you at lunch?"
"Sure."
"Bye!" she beamed as she raced off. Phineas looked at the front entrance, which now had less people.
"I think we should hurry up before we're late..." Phineas suggested. Ferb nodded his head and the both of them started speedwalking to the building.
It was a few moments before they got there. When they did, they noticed that the inside was bustling with students. Freshmen walked around nervously, trying to find their classes while not being attacked by Seniors. Seniors walking around, trying to find Freshmen to bully. Phineas loosened up when he saw that class wasn't starting very soon.
"Hey! Phineas!" a familiar voice was heard. Just then, a small student came running up to him. It was Baljeet. "Help me. The Seniors keep thinking I'm a Freshman!"
"Well, you can walk with us. What's your first class?" Phineas inquired.
"I have advanced math."
"We do too! Let's get moving then."
After navigating the semi-crowded halls, the trio made it to their advanced math class. Baljeet was especially excited and, in turn, he burst the door open and strode inside. Phineas and Ferb looked at each other then followed their friend inside.
In the class, people were already throwing paper balls and spitballs at the other students. Baljeet was sitting, hands folded, in the front of the class with a smile plastered across his face. The brothers took their seats on either side of him. Baljeet was getting paper thrown at him relentlessly, but he didn't seem to take notice. Or if he did, he didn't mind. The school bell rung, and almost immediately everyone took their seats. The doorknob turned and the door opened. A tall figure stepped inside.
"Hello class. My name is Professor Poofenplotz. You children can call me Dr. P for short." She spoke in a condescending tone, which sent shivers down the students' spines. "Come up here, grab your textbooks, and sit back down. I don't want any trouble from any of you, got it? Good." She sat down at her desk and started to file her nails. The students obeyed her commands, silently acquiring their books and going back to their desks. Once everyone was done, she stood up again.
"Alright. Go to page 69, answer questions 1-56. If you don't finish it's for homework. Also, quiz tomorrow. That is all." She plopped back down into her seat and continued to file her unreasonably long fingernails. The students all looked at each other. Baljeet, on the other hand, was already on question 5.
Phineas got to work immediately. He wanted to have enough time that night to study for the quiz the next day.
Phineas was on question 39 when the bell rung. The students all packed up their things. Baljeet exclaimed triumphantly, "I finished!"
"Nice. I'm on 39. What about you Ferb?"
Ferb showed him his paper, which showed that he left off on the 42nd question. "Nice. Now, let's get to our engineering class."
"Ooh, you guys are going to engineering too? So am I!" Baljeet said. "What are we waiting for? Let's go!"
"He has a lot of energy." Phineas noted. Ferb nodded. Like the first time, the brothers followed Baljeet to their next class.
They saw Baljeet head into a class as they walked down the hall. "I guess that's where engineering is..." Phineas concluded. They walked into the same class that Baljeet did. They saw him sitting at the front of the class - again. The only difference, however, was that the students weren't throwing paper at each other. Instead, they were talking amongst themselves quietly. Phineas and Ferb liked this setting much better. They each took their seats near Baljeet at the front of the classroom. The teacher was already in the class, on the computer behind his desk. It took him 2 minutes to realize he had a class to teach.
"Oh," he said. He stood up and made his way in front of the whiteboard. "My name is Dr. Doofenshmirtz. I will be your engineering teacher for this year. By the end of this year I want you all to build a device that can be used to take over the tri-state area. For research purposes, of course."
Phineas looked over at his brother, who looked back and nodded. They would be able to make a machine like that in less than an hour. He had hoped this class would've been more challenging - after all, it was an AP. At least they wouldn't have to do much work this year in engineering.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz went back to his computer and sat down. "Now spend this class brainstorming your inventions or whatever."
The class immediately erupted in noise with kids nervously asking each other for help with their project. Both Phineas and Ferb were relaxing in their chairs. They knew they could finish this assignment in one afternoon, so why bother working at school? Baljeet, on the other hand, was freaking out.
"What do I do?! There's no way I can finish a project that big within the span of one year!" He scrambled over to Phineas' desk. "You have to help me!"
Phineas looked down at him. "It's an easy project. You can come over to my place after school, and we'll work on ours together. Okay?"
Baljeet calmed down. "Okay. Since I'm getting help from you, I really have no need to worry."
Suddenly, the bell rung which signaled the dismissal of class.
