Vivana Julee - Part 1, Chapter 2
"You are dismissed," Mrs. Brenne waved her hand at us, and takes a sip of coffee. I'd like to say I got out of that classroom reluctantly, but that was quite frankly not the case. Walking out with a faster pace than usual, I went to my locker. Where an interesting note awaited me.
Vivana, it reads. Please meet me at the parking lot after school. Thank you, Hale
Hale? Why would I meet him? Confused, I tore up the note and threw it in a nearby trashcan. I grabbed my binders, and left determinedly, deciding to completely ignore the note.
* * * * *
"Vivana, you have to help me get his attention." Chloe begged, tugging on my backpack strap. I sighed.
"Look, if you want his attention, then you've got to get it yourself, instead of begging me." I snapped. "I have no interest in Hale, and therefore does not care about his stupid attention."
"I saw him staring at you today," Chloe attempted again. "Please, Vivana. Pleaaase?"
I huffed. She was hopeless. "Okay, okay!" I shook her off, annoyed. "I'll mention you to him if I get a chance, alright?"
"Thank you so much!" Chloe hurried away, clearly to put some makeup on to please the oh-so-charming Hale.
I headed to the school parking lot, where I would see him, and turn him down if he tried to ask me out. I wasn't planning on meeting him at all originally, but only for you, Chloe. I've known her for six out of my fourteen years alive, so that's gotta count for something.
Hale the model stood back to me, reading a book that looked like it was about history. "Hey," I yelled to him, and he started. When he saw it was me, he recovered, then jogged over.
"Hi, Vivana." He gave me a half-smile.
"Hi. How do you know my name?" I demanded, impatient. I'm not going to miss the bus for this playboy.
"I asked one of your friends." Hale pursed his lips thoughtfully. "They were very eager to tell me." I groaned.
"Traitors." I mumbled. Then, I said a bit louder: "So, what do you want?"
Hale raised an eyebrow. "Attitude, Vivana. Actually, can I call you Viv? Vivana is kind of a mouthful."
"Absolutely not." I held my head high. "Just get to the point."
"Okay, Viv." Hale laughed. "Um, so, I was wondering... who's your parents?" He seemed uncomfortable asking this. Not like it was a very common thing to ask. I've seen a lot of strange ways boys ask girls out, but this is a first.
"My mother's name is Johanna Julee." I said. Family was kind of a touchy subject. "My dad died when I was two."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Hale said, not seeming very sorry at all. "Um, and also, does your mom believe in things like... fairies? And vampires?"
I narrowed my eyes. "I don't know. She doesn't bring those up. If you could hurry, please, before I miss my bus?" Hale squirmed under my glare.
"Right. Sorry." He sighed. "That's it. Thank you for your time."
I tried to hide my surprise, probably without success. He just brought me out here to ask me questions about my family? Was this some kind of joke? "That's it?" I asked. He nodded. "Well then." I was going to leave, when I suddenly remembered something. "Oh, one more thing."
"No problem." Hale looked defeated.
"Chloe is very interested in you, so I would appreciate it if you talk to her sometime." I said.
Hale didn't seem very surprised. "Yeah?" He chuckled. "Well, tell her I have a girlfriend. She doesn't go to this school, so no need to be jealous."
"Hm." I spun on my heels and left. That was an interesting meeting.
Hale Cormor - Part 2, Chapter 2
Unfolding my wings, I levitated off the ground, then flew towards the Cress Manor. My home. As the wind flowed through my light, pixie wings, I speculated throught my conversation with Vivana, who was definitely one of us. There was no other explanation for the bright red aura that surrounded her. Everyone in our world had an aura, every kind a different color that only the pixies (or the incredibly good-looking ones) could see. That's why Manors, or where our kind usually lived together, sent out pixies to school to look for the kids that had an aura besieging them. I pulled out my Aura guide, and carefully read through it again. In case I made a mistake, which I never did.
Red - A member of the zodiac society, or representives of a clove of species
Orange - Morphing creatures, like werewolves and vampires
Green - Forest creatures like goblins, elves, fairies, and pixies
Black - Evil and haunting spirits, like ghosts, creepypastas (as the humans call them), and fallen angels
Gold - Angels
I put the guide away. Vivana must be hella powerful, but how did she not know about the other world? Weren't all member of the supernatural required to learn what they were before thirteen?
I landed at an abandoned gas station, which was a perfect place for hiding our Manor, the place where my society's headquarters were. Swiftly, I flew inside the door and settled in front of a mirror. The label underneath it read in small print - Cress Manor.
It's funny how humans have lived with mirrors for so many centuries, but still don't know about the magic it held. Instead, they use it as something for vanity purposes only. The mirror is a powerful tool, the transtion between the to worlds that were barely seperated. Then again, I shouldn't blame them, since the only creatures able to travel through mirrors is our kind, the supernatural.
I carefully placed a finger onto the mirror's surface, and then closed my eyes. "As a member of the supernatural society, I ask your permission to travel through the pathway between two worlds." Slowly, I felt myself sink into the surface, and silently counted to five. Opening my eyes, I found that I had landed softly at the Manor. Pulling my wings in, I wondered what our educator will say about this.
