CHAPTER 1: MOVE ON
I live an ordinary life. My parents are happily married. I have a little sister who's twelve. I'm a junior in High School and I have a boyfriend. Jacob Parker. He's captain of the swim team and lacrosse team. What's not to like right? Wrong. Here's my story.
"Hey babe." Jacob pulled me on to his lap and kissed my neck. "Hey." I wrapped my arms around him as if nothing had happened the night before. "Sorry about last night." He smiled. I nodded.
The night before:
"Come on babe! You know you want to!" Jacob yelled forcing me on to his bed, drunk off his ass, his lacrosse buddies standing to the side watching. We were at one of Jacob's famous Saturday night parties and he was intoxicated...as usual. "No! Stop!" I yelled trying to get him off of me. He let out a slight chuckle and started to take my jeans off. While, Ben, Rob, Casey, Jackson and Miles laughed and pulled out there cameras. "Babe hold still!" He yelled as he took his jeans off. I took in a deep breath before I tried to yell for help, although I wasn't confident someone would hear me over the loud music. "RAPE!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. Jacob put one hand over my mouth and he used the other to punch me. He got off of me and dressed himself, but not until he got another punch in. "This isn't over! Either you do it because you want to or I make you...but that's up for you to decide." The team left and I was stranded crying in Jacob's bedroom. I could feel my black eye and puffy lip getting worse and I had no idea what I would tell my parents but I knew I had to leave. So, I got dressed, snuck out the window, and walked eleven blocks to my house.
Two days later:
It wasn't like Jacob had never hurt me before. He did. Almost everyday. I was helpless. And, not only was I abused on the daily, but he was cheating on me (which I can't say surprised me) with Lindsay Ruthers. My life was falling apart and I didn't know what to do except tell my mom.
"What's up sweetie?" My mom asked me as she sat across from me at the kitchen table. "Well, you know that things haven't been to great with Jacob? Well, things are a lot worse than not great."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, for the last four months I have been abused, by not only him but also my self, I've been cheated on and I have been treated like complete shit!" She cocked her head. "Jacob has been hurting you?" I just simply nodded. "You've been hurting your self?"
"No. Well not physically but mentally." I said, knowing that wasn't exactly true.
"What can we do?" She asked scratching her head. "I think we need to move...out of California." She bit her lip, pondering the situation. "Well, that could work. Your father and I could use a fresh start as well."
"Can we move to Washington?" I asked with a puppy dog look. "I would love to go there but I need to talk to your dad." I got up and hugged her tightly. "Thanks mommy." I ran up to my room and read...typical Ryan Summers. "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green was my favorite book and I was currently reading it for the sixth time.
My reading session was interrupted by the sound of pebbles hitting my window. I looked out and saw Jacob. He looked exhausted, and like all the life had been sucked out of him. I stood up from my bed and shut the blinds. It was the first step of shutting out the thing I thought I loved most.
I was done with the beatings I took for his personal pleasure. I, Ryan Paige Summers, was officially done with Jacob Scott Parker and I was pretty sure, it would be difficult to get rid of him. "It's time to start over." I whispered to my self as I peered down at the scars on my legs that I created. "You're better than him. Move on."
