I woke up and rolled straight over to stretch my back out. I had no idea what time it was, all I knew was it was light outside, the downstairs radio was on and I could hear faint talking from outside my bedroom door. I pushed the duvet from me and grabbed my dressing gown from the back of the door. It now became more apparent that it was Robbie's voice I could hear, and he was on the phone. I quietly opened my bedroom door and hoped I was able to hear what he was saying down the phone. However, that plan didn't go too well because as soon as I stepped out onto the hallway Robbie glanced at me in the mirror and slammed his door closed. I pursed my lips together and rolled my eyes, what was that boy up to?
"Good morning," Lindsey spoke loudly from her bedroom door. "Did you sleep alright?" She asked, as I turned around to follow her down the hallway and eventually down the stairs.
"Yeah I slept great, how about you?" I asked, still glancing back at Robbie and Jason's room.
"Me too, I'm going for a meeting with my new boss, should I wear my black boots or black pumps?" Lindsey asked as we approached the bottom of the stairs.
"Black boots," I smiled, not even having to hesitate.
"You see, I would have said flat black shoes," Joe pointed out, as he walked from the kitchen and wrapped his hands around Lindsey's waist.
"And that's why I asked for Emily's opinion and not yours," Lindsey laughed, wrapping her arms around Joe's neck and kissing him lightly on the lips.
"Hurry up Joe, we're late enough as it is," Freddie shouted from the kitchen, I was walking through the house to the kitchen now and he was trying to put some working boots on. They were obviously going to the garage. Ziggy was stood making a bacon sandwich, with the flame on the pan as big as possible so he could cook, and burn, the bacon faster.
"It's not me we're waiting for, it's Ziggy. Come on Zig!" Joe teller through the house.

I stood beside Ziggy in the kitchen and watched him butter two slices of bread as fast as possible.
"I'm coming, calm down," Ziggy shouted back, which made me laugh.
"Are you all going to the garage?" I asked, clicking the kettle on.
"Yeah, are you coming up later?" Ziggy replied, ignoring the shouts and taunts coming from Joe and Freddie. I screwed my face up as if to say no, but so didn't know what I was going to be doing.
"Might do," I replied, reaching for a mug from the cupboard.
"See you later then," Ziggy shouted after me, while he made a mad dash for the front door.

I knew they had gone when I heard the door slam and the lock on the door click. The house suddenly fell a lot quieter.
"Jason, Lindsey do either of you want a cup of tea?" I shouted out the kitchen door, Jason was in the living room and Lindsey was sorting out her hair in the mirror in the hallway.
"Yes please," Lindsey shouted, but Jason had his X-box head set on and didn't hear what I was saying to him. I shrugged it off and grabbed two matching mugs out of the cupboard underneath the bench where the kettle was. Seconds later Robbie came bounding down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Do you want a cup of tea?" I asked him, since I'd asked everyone else. He hesitated for a minute.
"No you're alright, I'll just have a swig of yours," He smiled, grabbing a slice of bread from the bread bin and shoving it in the toasted as far in as it would go. I wanted to ask him what he was up to, but I knew he would just deny anything - and after all I didn't have any solid proof that he was actually doing anything, only a gut instinct.
"Can I ask you something?" I asked him, mixing the two cups of tea with a little tea spoon. I leant on the island in the middle of the kitchen while I spoke. Robbie didn't reply, but he nodded his head and raised his eyebrows as if to say 'go ahead'. "You would tell me if you needed any help, wouldn't you?" I asked, making him move out the way so I could grab the milk from the fridge. Robbie didn't reply for a minute.
"I can sort things out myself, what would you do anyway Emily, hey?" Robbie laughed, which annoyed me because he had always asked me to help in the past. I turned to him and shrugged my shoulders. "I tell you what you can do, keep out of my room and tell Freddie to get off my back, yeah?" Robbie smiled, Jason was too innocent to know what to look for in Robbie's draws but I knew what to look for.
"Alright," I sighed, pursing my lips together.
"I mean it, Emily, one step into mine and Jason's room and I'll break your legs," Robbie threatened, which I didn't know whether he was being serious or not.

One good thing about being bought up surrounded by boys, was I learnt to fight like a boy and defend myself like a boy. And if that all failed, I still had my older brothers to fight my battles for me.

I pushed past Robbie, heading towards the stairs with Lindsey's cup of tea. She was still sorting out her hair in the mirror. I smiled to her gently and placed her cup of tea down on the wooden coffee table beside her. Lindsey smiled back, and was just about to open her mouth to say something which I assumed was 'thank you' when Robbie rudely interrupted her.
"Did you hear me or what?" Robbie shouted at me, from the kitchen. I turned to face him, he was taking his toast out from the toaster.
"Yeah, I heard you but that doesn't mean I was listening," I shouted back, as loud as I could while I leapt up three stairs and began rushing to his bedroom before he had a chance to catch me up.
"Emily, no!" Robbie screamed, his voice turning panicky and worried. I could hear his heavy foot prints running out from the kitchen but I was already at the top of the stairs and was nearly in reach of his bedroom door handle.

I pushed hard down on the door handle and threw the door open and slammed it closed behind me. As soon as I went through the door him and Jason had a desk with three little draws attached to it. I ripped them open, as fast as I could as I could hear Robbie starting to run up the stairs. I threw everything out of them on the floor, there wasn't anything there. I ripped open one wardrobe, Jason's I assumed, which was empty as he was still not unpacked. The wardrobe beside his was Robbie's and I opened that, it was just full of jeans and tops with a few hoodies hung up. Robbie was now at the top of the stairs and I could literally hear him nano seconds away from opening the door and I knew I'd get the beating of my life. That's when I noticed it, a black Nike shoe box poking out from under Robbie and Jason's bunk beds. I grabbed it and removed the lid, at exactly the same time Robbie burst into the room and threw himself on top of me, removing the box from my grasp.

I didn't see what was in the box for long, maybe less than a second but I knew exactly what it was. And I knew exactly who's it was as well. My eyes met Robbie's, as he looked down at it as well. His expressions were full of guilt. Where as mine was full of shock.
