Farkle would've been lieing if he said he didn't see it coming, so he didn't.

"I can't believe this Farkle, I thought he liked me." Riley said sadly as she layed in the middle of her bedroom floor "All this time he liked Maya,I see why but that's all he had to say. I really liked him."

"We both know he didn't have the heart to say it all these years." Farkle sighed looking down at her from the bed. "And come on Riles there's plenty other guys."

Riley chuckled "I get that Farkle. Let me mourn."

"You shouldn't have to." Farkle said standing up

"But I am." She said looking away from him

"Riley."

"Farkle." She said indignantly

Farkle sighed and sat back down. He knew how hurt she was by this, he couldn't do anything but take it.

"I mean honestly, it's been like three years." Riley said as she started venting "I thought this was going somewhere, for three years Farkle, he didn't say anything. It just upsets me even more that he waited this long to say something, he just had to tell me that he didn't like me, that's it." She said as she paced the floor "Do you think Maya actually likes him?"

Farkle was struck for words. Of course Maya liked Lucas, anyone with eyes could she that she liked him, it was that obvious. But it went right over Riley's head, she was so caught up in her own infatuation to see how bad they liked each other, but Farkle couldn't tell Riley that, she'd have to figure it out on her own.

"I'm not sure, you'd have to ask Maya." He shrugged

"Ugh, sophomore year just started and now this." Riley groaned

"Are you going to talk to her?" Farkle asked

"Not tonight, but tomorrow definitely." She said "I mean there's no way Maya likes him, right?"

Farkle gulped "Right."

"I swear Lucas if you say you're sorry one more time I'm going to slap the absolute shit out of you." She threatened

"Okay." He said putting his hands up in surrender "Should I go talk to Riley, I know she's upset about this."

"It's th next day Ranger Rick, I'm sure she has plenty to say." Maya said as they walked to school

"Yeah but I feel bad." He continued

"Yeah and you've said sorry like a millon times." She muttered rolling her eyes

"I just put you in between me and Riley, I never intended for that. But now that I think of it, if this turns from bad to worse you got suck in the middle."

"Thanks for reminding me Huckleberry, I deeply appreciate it." Maya fake smiled

Lucas sighed "I should have just kept my mouth shut."

"Or maybe told Riley that you didn't like her three years ago, I mean that was always an option."

"That was the problem, I did like Riley, I still do. Just not as much as I like you. "

Maya put a hand on Lucas's shoulder "I'm sure this'll eventually blow over."

"Hey I never asked you, I don't think anyone ever did ask you." He said furrowing is eyebrows

She rose an eyebrow at him "Ask me what?" Maya said opening her locker

"Do you even like me?" He asked cauing her to gulp

"Maya, Lucas." They heard from behind them

"Hey Riles." Maya said turning around to face her

"Hey." Lucas mumbled not paying attention

He was to distracted with his own thoughts to speak, Maya easily dodged his question. He knew it was gonna happen, but he didn't expect it to happen immediately.

Riley looked over Maya's shoulder at Lucas, who was frowning. "I need to talk to you." She said to Maya

"Can we meet after school, I have to get to the art room." Maya said slinging her bag over her shoulder

"Of course." Riley said "Bay window right after school." She glanced at Lucas one more time before walking off to class.

"So," He started before being interrupted by Farkle

"Have you guys seen Riley?"

"Yeah she just went to class." Maya said shutting her locker door closed

"Did she seem upset at all?" He asked

"Not really." Maya shrugged "I've gotta go, see you guys later."

Lucas sighed as she walked away "She never answered my question."

"What was your question?" Farkle asked

Lucas thought to himself, maybe this whole thing was a mistake, maybe he should've just stuck with Riley. As horrible as it sounded in his head it might have been the better option.

"If she liked me or not." He chuckled sadly "This whole thing is probably just a big mistake."

"Do you like Riley?"

"Yes."

"Do you like Maya?"

Lucas laughed "I think you know the answer to that question."

"And you like Maya more?"

"That'd be correct."

Farkle thought for a moment "Well Riley is pissed at you."

"You know I would've never guessed." Lucas said as the bell rang

"But she believes Maya doesn't really like you." He said "But I'm not so sure if that's true."

"What are you saying Farkle?"

"All I'm saying is you need to talk to Maya before Riley does. We both know how unintentionally manipulative Riley can be, Maya needs to get her feelings out before they talk." He explained

"Oh great, so I have till the end of the day to get Maya to talk to me?"

"Sorry man."

"This is just great."

Farkle chuckled nervously
"Well lets see what Mr. Matthews has to say for this one."
