Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. I'm thinking of starting a new story soon that's of a different genre and I've also been busy with tests and projects and other stuff.
Hope you enjoy this next chapter :)))

"You're really not coming?" Victoria said as they set their backpacks aside and sat down at the lunch table which was jam packed with the most popular people in the school.
"No, parties aren't really my thing." Evelyn shrugged.
"That's pretty surprising, coming from a girl as well known as you." remarked Victoria.
"Yeah, why aren't you coming?" Scott said, taking a bite out of his sandwich. "Half the school's coming which means a greater chance of kissing a cute chick or dude when we get to spin-the-bottle."
"That," Evelyn pointed out. "Is exactly the reason why."
"I honestly hope Sam Henderson is there." Irene almost squealed with one of her friends sitting beside her.
Victoria and Evelyn caught each other's eyes and Victoria rolled her eyes and they both giggled silently. Everyone knew Irene was just trying to make Jace, who was sitting across from her, 'jealous'. But for all it mattered, he seemed even more uninterested.
"C'mon," Victoria tried again.
Evelyn shook her head. She had had her fair share of parties from freshman year and nothing good came from them. Besides, as she had grown older, she had discovered how useless they were. And it surprised her that Victoria, a put-together, preppy girl who had probably never drank in her life, was asking her to come.
"Have you ever been to a party here?" asked Jace suddenly.
Evelyn wondered whether to lie or not. Maybe she's be able to get away with it.
"Uh, when I first moved here, I went to a Halloween party at Mason's house." she told him, the lie coming out as easily as lies always had.
"Just one?" he raised his eyebrows and Evelyn groaned internally.
She should have just said a simple yes, instead of straight up implying that she had only been to one. That was bound to make them ask her even more questions.
"Like I said, I don't really like big parties." Evelyn tried to cover up.
"Well, you're coming to this one." Jace announced and everybody looked at him.
"Umm, and what makes you so sure about that?" she challenged.
"Because I said so." he shrugged.
"So?"
"So, that means that you're coming whether you like it or not."
"Are you threatening me?"
"I guess you could call it that." he told her.
"Well, the only way you're gonna get me to go is if you manage to avoid the cops after I report you." Evelyn said in a serious voice, although everyone knew she was only joking.
But she was annoyed at Jace, that part wasn't a joke.
"Don't go then." shrugged Jace, leaning back and looking down at his phone, scrolling through it nonchalantly.
What the hell?
"Jace." Victoria nudged him on the shoulder in a friendly manner. She then turned back to Evelyn. "You have to come, okay? Pleeeaase? I promise you that if you don't enjoy it, you'll never have to go to another party again, I swear."
