''Bye.'' - Taehyung

These meetings were getting more and more shorter, and they weren't as lively as before. Taehyung's eyes-- which had once looked at you in excitement-- were now dull and tired, drained of energy.

-

It was late at night, around 9 PM or so, and you had gotten a text from a contact telling you to meet up at the playground-- the usual. He never forgot.

No, he wouldn't.

You've known Taehyung for god knows how long, and finally. Finally he debuted with boys that were just as handsome and talented like him.

You two always used to joke around saying his good looks would be put to use sooner or later.. Who knew it would be through an idol group?

-

You grabbed your phone, your finger rubbing your chapped lips. The corners of your mouth were turned up to a smile, and you didn't know until now that you had always yearned for these little meetings. You and Taehyung never really went to anywhere special, usually just a secluded place where nobody would recognize him. Sharing stories, laughing together, sharing and feeding each other from a bag of chips.. It was just like you were back in freshman year.

Except the year after, he was taken away to that entertainment company. You wished for his success, but deep inside, you wished that their debut would delay. So he would still continue to play and laugh with you.

But of course, things can't always go your way.

You waited at the mouth of the slide, pressing your warm fingers against the freezing metal. It was getting colder and colder by the second. Glancing at the phone on your lap, it was now 10:32. He was going to come, wasn't he?

Looking up and exhaling, you notice a figure walking towards your direction. He had a long, black coat on, and boots of matching color covered in flecks of snow. He wore a grey, knitted beanie with a star patch on the fold... You stood up immediately and grinned. That was a gift you had given him a month ago.

But as he neared you, a wave of uneasiness overcame you. Was something wrong?

He usually was the type to run over and embrace you, his big eyes widening in size as he would greet you. But here he was, walking slowly, his boots tapping the ground every time he took a step, his head lowered.

"Taehyung!" You grinned, opening your arms. He stopped a feet before you, and your arms lowered to your sides.

Some thing was wrong. The cold air turned brisk, and you could barely feel your hands. It was if you were hit by a storm of coldness. "(Y/N)," he started, and you stared at him. The warm aura that usually radiated from him was gone--it had disappeared. Ignoring the serious mood, you smiled even wider, even though it pained you. "You know Jinyoung right? He has a girlfriend now!" You laughed. "Guess who she--"

"We can't meet anymore," he said simply. "I can't keep on seeing someone like you.. Sorry." You froze, and the sob that you didn't know you were restraining quietly escaped your lips.

Clearing your throat, you managed to ask him a final question, "Why?"

'Someone like you'. Were you two so different already? Because he now is beginning to make it big?

"I promise I won't forget you when Bangtan becomes more popular," Taehyung had once said, flashing that wide smile you had gotten so used to. Back then you believed him with all your heart, but now it turns out you can't even trust the person closest to you.

Taehyung's eyes were gleaming. Not with happiness, but with tears. "Because. Because we're different now. You do know that soon enough we won't meet anymore and I'll just forget you." You inhaled sharply, barely taking in all the words he spoke.

"Let's just erase all these memories we made. You're a waste of time."

You looked down, the snowy ground all blurry from the tears that blocked your view. "Taehyung-ah!" someone called out, and you looked up to see his manager waving him over. "Let's go!"

They did this. That company of his.

Or.. was this really his decision?

You looked up to lock gazes with a pair of glassy eyes. He can't leave you.

He wouldn't.

"Well, b.." His voice cracked for a second, before he faked a cough. "Bye."

Soon you were left alone, crying on a day where nobody was out, and yet the snow kept on falling. His footsteps were still marked, leading a path away from you-- and you knew that's how it would always be.
