Not once did I even begin to relize how good of a life I actually have.
I wake up in my bed with cozy covers wrapped around me. I can smell the heavenly scent of bacon and maple syrup floating into my room from the kitchen downstairs, and I rise from deep slumber. I quickly slip on my baggy 8th grade chorus shirt from many years ago, and slid into some gym shorts. As I made my way down to the kitchen, I saw the cat from next door laying on our window ledge.
"What's the neighbor's cat doing here?" I asked my step mom.
"What! Where?" She franticly replied.
"Right over th-" I began to point to where it was laying sound asleep in the sun.
"I could've sworn....it...it was there," I promised.
"Sarah, don't scare me like that!" She told me as I remembered her strange fear of feline creatures.
"Oh come on. You've gotta get over your fear sometime," I teased.
"Ya, well until then I'll just keep my distance. Come, grab a plate, I made your favorite," she gestured.
I walked over and inhaled deeply, letting the scent of homemade waffles and fresh crispy bacon fill my nose with delight.
"So, what are your plans for today?" She asked casually.
"I don't know, nothing much. Probably hang out with Emily for a bit and go bike riding," I replied between bites of bacon.
She was hesitant, and finally said, "Maby you should hang out with Allison instead."
My stepmom has never been too faund of Emily, right when they met. Emily is my best friend however, and I simply cannot live without her. We have been friends for over 2 years now and she doesn't seem to have many other friends. Everyone I introduced her to seems a little off putted by her. Nevertheless I love her. She really is a sister to me.
"Ok," I lied.
"Thank you," she said.
I quickly finished up because I knew that Emily would be waiting for me by the creek.
