Bad luck

I ran, faster then I did on the day I firsts murdered someone. That two faced weasel lied to me! We had a deal that he would not have me kill cops. Does he want to die, either by me or the cops. I made it back to bar and entered, searching for larry. I found him staring at a TV. I walked up to him and he just pointed at the TV

"Breaking news! This just in. Three cops were found dead in an ally way. The street has not been disclosed and the murderer is on the lose...wait, we just got word that one of the police officers is alive but is in critical condition and is severely wounded. The officer who survived was stabbed once in the back. The Two cops that were shot are 11 year veteran Ray Smith, who was training a new recruit by the name of Ayano Sasaki. The survivor was 5 year veteran Ryan Brown who was taken to the regional hospital for medical attention. And now to Chris who is on the scene, Chris what's it look like there...."

"Well your not getting paid, until till you kill the last cop" said Larry, his arms were crossed and his face had the look of disappointment. "Thank you for reminding me." I replied bitterly, still mad at Larry for not telling me anything about the mark being a cop. "WHY DID YOU NOT TELL ME THEY WERE COPS!?" I lost it, I was so mad at Larry that I just yelled at him. He didn't say anything at first, but just looked at me calm, like he knew I would be mad. After a few minutes he replies with "Because I knew you would want more money than I have, if I had told you". I was about to knock him to the ground when he finally said "look dont worry about it, I'll take care of the problem. Just lay low till I call you..."

_______________________________TWO WEEKS LATER___________________________________

I climbed the metal fire escape to the roof of a small appartment complex. The moon was shining an unforgiving light upon the darkness of the city at night. The cold wind blows harder as I climb higher twords the darkness of the sky. I was hidden as best as I could in the night, but you could still tell what I was wearing. Black combat boots, black pants and a black shirt, black leather gloves. My long black coat I wore two weeks ago, this time with the hood up, and covering my face was a black balaclava with a skull pattern on it. Black goggles covered my eyes since it was to dark to wear sunglasses. To top it off there was a black duffle bag on my back. This was my normal gear for a job during the night like this.

At the top of the fire escape, I stepped onto the gravel roof of the complex with a satisfying crunch of rocks under my boots. I walked to the ledge of one of the buildings sides. I stopped on the edge, and admired the view. The starry night sky with the moons unforgiving light shined on the roof, giving it a forboding look. While below on the streets the cars zoomed by without a second thought to the people walking on the sidewalk. Some were laughing, talking to a cell phone, or even just playing around. I smiled faintly at the sight. They are blissfully ignorant of the events about to take place.

I stepped off the ledge and back to the roof. I turned around and set my bag on the ground and opened it. Inside was a L115A3 sniper rifle, a suppreser, and a Schmidt & Blender 5-25x56 telescopic sight. Along with a TMP and a suppreser to match. I took the sniper rifle out of the bag carfully and attached the scope and suppressor to it. It shined brilliantly in the moonlight, almost beautiful if it wern't so deadly. I turn back to the ledge I was just on and lay on my chest, setting the gun's bipod on the ledge. I moved the gun ever so slightly to the white building about two blocks down the street. It was fully lit and magnificent in the night. A sort of ironic place, where people who go there to survive could also die there. It was a hospital, where my target was staying...but not for long. He had an appointment elsewhere.

The intel given to me by Larry was right. My soon to be victim, Ryan Brown, was in a hospital bed with two of his police officer firends. They seemed to be having a good time, laughing and talking as if nothing will happen. But something will happen tonight. I loaded the chamber with a single bullet , since that was all i needed. I adjusted the scope to see Ryan's face perfectly, as if I was standing right next to him. Then, with everything ready, I slowed my breathing to lower my heartbeat. Slower and slower till it seemed I wasn't even breathing anymore. I held my breath a second before I was about to shoot. My finger on the trigger, then a bright flash and faint pop of a bullet flying out of the barrel. I heard glass break and someone scream. I took a few breaths of air before looking through my scope again.

Ryan was laying in his bed, blood trickleing from a hole that went strait through his head. Next to him, the once white walls were now splattered with droplets of crimson. The two cops that were with him looked right at me before calling into a radio on his shoulder. Within seconds you could hear police sirens from all directions, first far away but slowly getting closer. I got up and shoved my rifle into the bag and slew it over my shoulder. I picked up my TMP with the supressor attatched and ran twords the ledge to my right. There was no fire escape on that side of the building. I didn't think twice before i ran to the ledge, I knew what I was doing. My right foot planted itself on the ledge and launched me into the air.

When your in the air, your mind can slow down time if you think quick enough. Below me was the nothingness of a dark alleyway, cops running along it to get to the fire escape. I looked ahead at another complex's roof. Preparing to hit the roof hard I went into a dive roll to conserve my momentum. As I got back to my feet I ran again to another ledge and jumped, this time another batch of cops from the alleyway noticed me and started to fire their weapons. Just as I was about to land, a lucky shot grazed my leg, throwing me off balanced and I tumbled onto the roof. I layed in the spot I landed for a good few seconds, still dazed by the shot. Below I heard an officer talking into his radio "shooter on the roof, running east on the buildings". I looked at the wound "Long but not deep, this is going to hurt for awhile" I think.

My mind was clouded with pain from that shot to the leg, but I had to get away. Slowly I got up and started to run, slower then before because my leg was sending jolts of agonizing pain through out my body. I jumped again from that roof's ledge, but I couldn't get enough of a jump to make it to the roof on the other side. Luckily for me, there was a fire escape on that side of the building. Reaching out my hands I grabbed onto a railing, slam into my body into the side of it. My leg hit the railing below causing me to scream in pain. Pulling myself over the railing was excruciating. Eventually I landed on the platform only to be confronted with a young cop, probably 26 years old. I raised my TMP to him, and he raised his pistol. After a moments hesitation I lowered my gun "Your lucky im in a hurry" before using my gun to hit him in the face. He fell down bleeding from the mouth and unmoving, but alive...I had simply knocked him out.

Running down the stairs I had no idea if there were anymore cops left. But I had to take a chance and run. I made it to the pavement between the walls of bricks. It was wet with puddles here and there but I didn't care. All i cared about was the end of the alleyway leading to the street. I started to do a limping run down the wet pavement. Maybe I had gotten away, maybe they thought I was running on the roofs again. With the enterance to the alleyway a few feet ahead, I sprinted full out to the open world beyond it. But right as I ran through i stopped moving altogether. Bringing lights shined on me from all directions and i could hear helicopter blades whirling. As my eyes adjusted to the sudden light I saw I was surrounded by police cars, each hiding at least 4 cops behind it. Each cop had some kind of weapon pointed at me and ready to fire. I looked to the roofs and saw 3 snipers, each with their scopes on me. A police helicopter topped it all off.

Then one of the cops stepped out, but he wasn't dressed like a cop. He had on black pants and dress shoes, a white shirt, a tan knee length jacket, and glasses to top it all off. He opened his mouth to speak, and out came a very smooth voice, calm but commanding. "You are under arrest for countless first degree murders, grand theft, and illegal access to restricted systems. Put your weapons down on the ground and surrender peacefully or we will be forced to use deadly measures". I laughed loudly once he finished, causing some cops to look at either person besides him before focusing back on me. "Well it seems I have no choice then" I said calmly, I knew this was bound to happen. I dropped my duffle bag containing the rifle.

It landed with a metalic thud on the street, "I'm not going out without a fight." I raise the TMP and start spraying the semicircle of police cars. Bright flashes and the sound of bullets hitting the metal of the cars breaks the usual city sounds, then a second sound breaks the scilence. A faint pop from one of the snipers, and then the feeling of something hitting my shoulder, I look down to see it was a tranquilizer dart. I pull it out as another one hits me in the chest, causing me to fall to my knees as I pull that one out. Suddenly all the cops come rushing out from behind their cars twords me. My vision was starting to blur as I drop The TMP two cops stood over me and shoved me to the ground. I tried to get up but there were two cops holding down my legs. I felt another cop grab my arms and heard the faint ratcheting noise of handcuffs. I looked up to see the commissioner standing in front of me before my vision fades and the world goes silent.
