Mondays. Mondays always seemed to start in the same, exact way. Only one thing mattered: gossip.

As I made my way to homeroom, head hidden behind my sweatshirt hood, I could hear whispers about who slept with who, who was a slut, who was a bitch, and who had the most ugly outfit at a party. I rolled my eyes as I passed by the gossiping bunch, wondering why they cared so much. It wasn't their life, so why did it matter? I wasn't that interested into gossip myself, unless it has to do with homework or study groups.

Nevertheless, it almost never was.

I walked into homeroom, head now held high, as I smiled and waved at the teacher sitting at her desk to signal my presence. The teacher grinned back, followed along by a nod of greeting.

"Good morning, Miss Hart."

"Good morning." I chimed, as I looked for my seat.

I sat in my usual seat, the one I had been sitting in for the first two weeks here, next to my best and only friend here, Becca Greene.

Becca could be one of the prettiest people I've ever seen. Her hair was this bright red that stood out among a crowd of people; it couldn't be natural. Her skin was perfect and pale, completely blemish-free.

Becca was the kind of person who doesn't give a damn about what anyone says about her.  Those strong-minded people that may intimidate some and seem like jerks, but are one of the most loyal and caring people you have ever met. And if it weren't for her snarky attitude or the fact she didn't wear clothes that barely covered any skin, she would've easily made the cheerleading team.

"Hey B," I said to Becca, setting my backpack beside my desk.

She turned off her iPhone before looking up. "Hey."

A silence lasted for three seconds before she spoke up.

Beccaa grinned, in a mischievous manner that made me sorta scared. "Oh! Grace, last Saturday was hella funny. I was at this kid Jacob's party, and Meg Allman totally tripped and ripped half of her dress off."

I laughed, shaking my head. "I hate parties, but I would've gone just to see that. Do you have pictures?"

"Nope. I wish. It's all over social media though."

"Becca, you know I can't have-" I paused as a thought ran through my head. "Wait, did you say Jacob's party? As like, Jacob?"

"Mhm, yeah." Amanda nodding, tossing a lock of red hair behind her shoulder. "Why, do you know him?"

Hm, did I really?

"I guess. He sort of cornered me in the parking lot yesterday and tried to hit on me."

Amanda's expression switched from calm to alert. She grasp my shoulders hard, making me yelp a little.

"Grace, your answer to this question will change our friendship forever. Okay, what did you do?"

I raised an eyebrow.

"Uhm, he sort of tried to hit on me and then I kicked him in the balls and drove away...?"

"Atta girl!" Becca exclaimed. "No one ever rejects Jacob."

"There's a first time for everything." I beamed, as I tried to watch the teacher, who I couldn't hear because of the talking.

"He's broken so many hearts," Becca said. "You were really smart not to fall for him, Grace."

"Thanks?" I responded, not knowing what to say. "But why do you think he chose to hit on me?"

"Because...You're really pretty, Grace. Pretty and smart. No guy can resist that." Amanda stated.

"Um....Thanks?" I muttered again.

"Really pretty...Pretty and Smart." Amanda muttered wistfully, almost to herself. Suddenly, she burst out, "Pretty AND smart enough to break his heart!"

"What?" I exclaimed, completely bewildered by her outburst.

She rolled her eyes and and gave me a smirk.

"He's broken so many hearts...Which is why you should break his!"
