ARTEMIS knew that this was it. these men would show her no mercy, they would just kill her. end it all. they did not seem like reasonable people to her. the way they all surrounded her, whistling the same haunting melody. they aimed their guns at her, trying to intimidate her.

her eyes glanced around, looking for an escape route but every where she looked was blocked by groups of greasy, burly men and their large trucks.

she could not focus, the loud ringing in her ears distracted her from the situation at hand. she had only now recovered from the very powerful hit to the head that she had received from one of the men. her vision was clouded with tears as she tried to make out the tall man in front of her. he was shouting at her but she couldn't make out his words, to her they were just gibberish.

after a few minutes had passed, her senses began to come back to her. her eyes finally focused on the man. he stood tall, clad in a leather jacket. he looked plain evil as he swung a baseball bat covered in barber wire aimlessly in the air.

"im a decent fuckin' man. so if you just tell that it ain't you that's been sneaking in and stealing our supplies, i'll let you off the hook." the man spoke, his words leaving artemis confused, though, she did not speak up.

"kid, if you don't give me a fuckin' answer right now, lucille here," he gestured to the murderous baseball bat, "is gonna be having a fuckin' scrumptious meal for one."

"i-i-don't know what you are t-talking about." and that was the truth. artemis had no idea what the man meant. she knew she had not stolen from anyone, she had barely eaten in weeks.

"you sure about that?" the man questioned, his voice a lot quieter, almost a whisper, as he leaned in close to her, waving the bloodied bat in front of her face.

she nodded vigorously in response, not wanting to keep the man waiting. she flinched as he clapped his large, gloved hand, onto her shoulder.

"that's all you had to say." the man laughed viciously, standing back up. he sauntered over to a man with a crazy moustache, muttering something into his ear.

the man with the moustache stomped over to her, grabbing her harshly by the arm. he began to drag her towards a large black pickup truck.

"wait! i told you i didn't steal your stuff!" she desperately called out to the man. he turned to her, a murderous grin on his face.

"good for you, kid, but you're still coming back with us." he explained. artemis clawed at the man who was dragging her, trying to escape his grip but it was no use, there was no way he was letting her go, so she gave up.

"who a-are you?" she called out hoarsely to the man with the bat, her voice was disappearing for all of her screaming.

"you don't know who i am?" the man asked, appearing shocked as he propped the bat back up onto his right shoulder, blood splattering onto his leather jacket.

"i'm negan." he introduced himself, before slamming the door of the truck in artemis' face, leaving her on her own in the dark.
