Imagine 29: too late : Dylan

You are best friends with Dylan O'Brian. You both grew up in a small town called Sweet River; you both grew up next door to each other. Your mother and father were best friends in high school and still are best friends. You both were attached by the hip and did everything together until you both hit grade 10. Dylan hit puberty but so did you. He became popular while your social status stayed the same but you lost all your friends because of a certain blonde girl who you're ex best friend was standing beside Kelly.

Dylan and Kelly started to date after he became well HOT but in order for him to be popular he had to drop the dead weight that was holding him back......You. Slowly he stopped talking to you and seeing you. Both your parents are oblivious because they don't notice how bitter you both have become towards each other.

But today that was all gonna change because your gonna change your social status just by wearing your new clothes and hanging with the boys that you have made friends with at the skate park. Their names are Drake, Sam, Max and Andrew.

You walked into the school with your new hairdo and your cool skater clothes with your new friends. You walked into the school gates with all eyes on you including Dylan's. You walked straight pass him not even acknowledging the fact that he was there. you, Sam, Max, Drake and Andrew all parted ways to go to your lockers.

You were currently getting your English book out of your locker when JP walked over and leaned against the poor girl's locker who was desperately trying not to be late for class. "What do you want JP and Get off of her locker" you said not even looking at him "go out with me?" he asked as he got off of her locker. "No" you shut my locker and looked him dead in the eyes "I said no, and get off of her locker" he rolled his eyes and walked away "Thanks?" The junior said "No problem". With that you walked away only to see Kelly and Dylan making out.

It killed you to see that....oh by the way did i mention that i have a massive crush on Dylan since i was 14.

You pretended that you didn't see it and continued walking.

Lunch rolled around and you asked Andrew as massive favour. "Andrew can you do me a favour?" You asked hopefully "Sure whats up?" "Can you pretend to be my boyfriend? You don't have to is you don't want to" you said "sure why not be funny to see JP's face and Dylan's" he smiled, "thank you are the best friend of the year" I said hugging him. Just then he kissed me. After we pulled away he whispered in my ear "don't turn around now but Dylan was watching" i nodded and smiled at him.

Just then Sam, Drake and Max looked between Andrew and I "what is going on between you two?" Max asked "um well..." "we are dating" Andrew cuts me off while he pulled you closer to his body and looking down at you and smiling. "Wooohoo bout time you asked her out Andrew" his eyes widen, you looked at him and kissed his blushed cheeks.

"cute" you whispered in his ear, he smirked at you and kissed your lips "so what does this mean for our friendship Y/N?" he asked looking down "something new" is all you replied he smiled and held your hand while walking out of the school to the bleachers where we always hang out when we have a free period.

Skip rest of the day

Once the bell rang you went to your locker when Dylan came up to you "so your dating Andrew?" you rolled my eyes while you closed your locker "yep, whats it to you anyway?" you said bitterly "nothing" was all he replied "good then mind your own business" you said walking away. "hey babe want a lift home?" you nodded and jumped into Andrew's ford Mustang.

Skip the drive

When Andrew pulled up to your driveway you kissed him and said goodbye and talk later. As you walked in the front door you set your keys on the hook and took your shoes of. "Mum, Zoe I'm home" I yelled "In the backyard" your mum replied you walked out to see your mum, zoe, Dylan's dad and then you saw him. "Hi Mr O'Brian" you said waving "Hi Y/N , how was school?" he asked "it was eventful" you replied ignoring Dylan's stare "hey Zo" you said as you knelt down towards your little sister she looked up and smiled at you.

After dinner

"Y/N do you mind if you did the dishes?" Mum asked "no problem" you said excusing yourself from sitting outside with Dylan in silence. You were currently doing dishes, as you were half way through you felt someone behind you when you heard his voice "Do you want me to dry?" "i don't care as long as there is no talking" you replied not making eye contact with him.

After the dishes were done you walked back outside hoping to avoid Dylan but you hopes just disappeared when you heard his voice. "I'm sorry for everything" "It's a bit late to say sorry, our 14 years of friendship washed down the drain because you wanted to be popular and make your little girlfriend happy, did you ever think how i might've felt knowing that it was that easy to drop?" "Look Y/N i am sorry i only did it because i love you more than a friend" he said "I'm sorry Dylan but Its too late, I have moved on, please do me a favour don't talk to me ever again." You said as you walked inside and bided goodnight to everyone and walked up stairs to bed.

You laid there looking at the ceiling, think that maybe if he said all of that 2 years ago maybe you could have forgave him but after you promised yourself to never let another boy hurt you the way he did, you could let your walls fall around him ever again.
