Better Than Movies

Chapter 1

I slammed my locker shut and started walking to the quad. I could already hear the noises and cheers the students were making, the excitement is buzzing in the air and that just makes me more irritated than I already am. The person beside me squealed in excitement I just looked at her with my brows pulled together. Her brown locks is resting on her shoulders, her cheerleader uniform that is half covered by her varsity jacket is still glowing, and her face brightening up because of the occasion.

"Oh come on Max!" She groaned then frowned. I just rolled my eyes then continued walking, it's my least favorite time of the year.  It's the Parkside High Meddling into Somebody's Life Affair, well it's not actually called like that but it doesn't matter. When we reached the quad half of the students went silent and I just rolled my eyes. I could here my name in every conversation and I could feel the glances and glares they were throwing at me. I went over and sat at the very back and folded both of my arms in front of my chest but when our school headmistress reached the stage they were already cheering and jumping up and down. Brook is standing up cheering as well and I just shook my head, What's so exciting about this event?

     "Okay okay, everybody settle down," Our headmistress, Miss Martin said with a warm smile plastered on her face. She looked at everyone then smiled but when her gaze reaches mine it immediately turned into a frown and I grinned at that mischievously. She regained her composure then clapped her hands. "It's that time of the year again! Where any guy of their choice or a school heartthrob would make a lucky girl fall for him and where we would see if they last or not. It's a show to us but their lives to them," She exclaimed happily. This woman is insane. "So i'm going to introduce to you our lovely principal Sir Daniel Torenso to pick who's our lucky meat."

Our stupid principal went to the stage then waved at the students all to well. He walked over to the machine then started spinning it. All of the girls that studies here, freshman to senior, are qualified for this event. They have all of the names listed down, well except mine cause they think that i'll just be a hindrance on the way. When the machine stopped, he picked out a piece of paper then slowly opened it.

     "Please be me, please be me," I heard a girl's beg beside me. I just shook my head.

     "It's a senior!" Mr. Torenso announced just then all of the seniors where screaming and chanting. I could hear the sighs of the freshmens and sophomores a mile away. "Lucky senior, Let the Love Affair begin!"

Both of them dismissed us and said that we should celebrate this, especially the seniors. As I walked past the stage I heard Mr. Torenso calling my name. "Miss Dawson!"

I silently groaned then turned around. I shrugged when I saw them both of them looking at me sternly. "What's up?" I said casually. They both looked at each other then looked at me.

     "It's a senior Ms. Dawson, it might be you for all we know but please if you are picked, don't back out." Miss Martin begged. I shrugged my shoulders then looked at them.

     "Well, if it's me let's see how it goes," I said smugly then left. I was joined by Brook when I was on my way to pick up my stuff.

     I placed all of my books and other things that are used in academics inside my locker and closed it, I didn't bother closing it since my nerd is gonna pick up my school work for me. When I started walking towards the door I realized that Brook isn't following me, I looked over my shoulder and saw her leaning by the lockers with her arms folded by her chest she's looking at me with both eyebrows raised.

She sighed then opened my locker again. "You don't have a nerd anymore Max." I groaned then went back. The perks of backing out in this stupid event.
