A/N: Hey guys! I hope y'all liked the previous chapter cause this one is about to be even better!
The moonlight shone onto the pavement as I brushed my wet hair away from my face. I swam for so long that I didn't even realise the time. Luckily, Mom and Dad aren't at home so I should be fine. They had texted me saying they were going to be out for work when I got out of the pool. My last encounter on this road had not been pleasant so naturally, this time I had a can of pepper spray in hand as well as the police on speed dial, concealed under my jacket. My eyes darted around. Every sound made me jump. Finally, I let myself relax. No one was around. My thoughts drifted to Dark Inferno. Why was he being so weird yesterday night? Why was he so down about me talking to Liam like that? I shake my head. He was a super, he probably had his own reasons. Besides, why should I care about what he thinks? We aren't friends. It's not like care about him. I thought to myself as I continue to walk in silence. At last, I reached home safe and sound. I open the door to the house only to see the one and only, Dark Inferno, sitting down on my couch in a black shirt and jeans along with his mask. I catch myself getting worried that he would be caught. Maybe I did care...? "What the hell! Someone is gonna see you!" I whisper yell at him.
"No one is here." he says, confused. Ruby is supposed to be home. My mind immediately went to the worse possible scenario. She's in danger! Just then I get a text message from Ruby.
Red: hey sis, I wont be at home. Had to meet publisher sorry
I sigh in relief. Thank god she isn't in any danger. I quickly write back to her.Me: no worries Red. when will u be back???
Red: no idea wont be long though. i gtg stay safe!
I put away my phone and look up at Dark Inferno. He was some sort of black device that resembled a phone. He looks up when he saw me approach him and sit on the couch but soon turns his face back to his phone. "Okay, so what happened in school?" he asks, still not looking at me. He seemed so out of it today. Is he alright? What was so important on his device?
"Liam was acting weird but we decided to meet." I say before realising that Dark Inferno was still focussed on his phone. "What's up? You seem distracted." I ask. Furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. He puts his phone down and runs his hand through his pitch black hair.
He looks at me before saying, "You won't believe me even if I say."
I frown at him, "try me."
Dark Inferno sighs before responding, "Something is going wrong in the city, something I haven't done. Something that will most definitely affect me in a way I won't like. I'm trying to stop it." His words were carefully chosen; he was trying to mask the truth. Questions floods my mind like a tsunami. Dark Inferno is trying to stop a catastrophe? Wouldn't he enjoy it if chaos broke out? Before I could vocalise my thoughts, a repetitive beep sounded. Dark Inferno looks down on his black device. "Shit! I'm sorry I have to go! I'll see you tomorrow night!" he says jumping up and disappearing after he finished. I sigh and get to bed. A foreboding feeling plagues my mind as what Dark Inferno said swirls in my mind. What is coming?

Wind rushes into Ruby's car as we begin to drive to school. I look out the open window, watching as trees and buildings fly by me. I allow my mind to find some peace in the wind blowing hair away from my face. I look to Ruby. Her hands gripped the wheel until her knuckles were turning white. She chewed on her lower lip anxiously while her eyes stayed on the road. I open my mouth to question her nervous behaviour but decide against it when her eyes avoid mine. If it were something important, she would tell me. Won't she?
