A/N: Hey guys! Hope you enjoy this chapter.
Sunday Evening
Dresses hangs of the handle of my wardrobe, makeup littered across my bathroom, and hair accessories scattered across my vanity and bed. The girls had come over just half an hour ago and my room was already a mess. Lexi faces me away from my vanity mirror, facing the rest of the girls, as she does my hair. Zoe rushes in and out of the bathroom, fixing her makeup and hair while Ruby sits on the bed, and does her hair. Ruby's face was still pale from her 'excursion' (as she puts it); her eyes were excited yet tired. It was as though her soul had been sucked out of her body before being put back in. "What kind of makeup should I go in?" Zoe asks rushing once more into the room.
"I would go for a light pink to match your dress." Ruby replies, her eyes trained on her hand-held mirror as she tries to fix her hair. Lexi goes to grab my curling iron.
"I'm thinking, Saph, to go with a wavy kind if look. Whatcha think?" Lexi asks me, waving the curling iron around my hair.
I nod, "go for it". After hours of getting ready, the girls and I gather around the mirror to see our final outfits. I look at myself in amazement; the girl that stood in front of me wasn't me. Her hair fell past her shoulder in waves and she looked so elegant in her dress. A bright smile stretches across my face as I hug Lexi and thank her. Just then the boys knock on the door before entering. We all turn to face them. As soon as Mark turned his eyes to Lexi, his mouth fell open.
Stuttering he said, "L-lexi, you look amazing!" she giggles before walking over to him and taking his hand in hers. The lovebirds then walk down the stairs. I smile at how happy they are together. Zoe, Justin and I follow them and pile into Justin's car. I push the house keys into my purse as he drives off into the night.

Music floated through the air as we drew closer and closer to the hall. Justin parks the car and I step out carefully, getting used to the new heels I had bought with the girls. Adjusting my mask, I walk in behind the girls and guys. The place had been elegantly decorated; making the vibe of the place have a certain poshness to it. People talked, danced or ate something and all in all, seem to be having a great time. The whole city seemed to have arrived. We make our way to the food tables to grab a drink before going off for dancing. I grab a cup of fruit punch and as soon as I turn, there was a guy in front of me. He wore a navy blue suit paired with a darker blue mask. "Hey Sapphire, nice dress" Carter says.
"Thanks. I almost didn't recognise you." I laugh. Before I could say anything, my friends join.
"Wow, what has the world come to? You guys friends again?" Lexi immediately says.
"Yup." Carter and I both say at the same time. The group seemed to be whole again as we laughed the night away. Pushing our way to the dance floor, we all begin to sway to the music playing. Zoe and Justin excuse themselves as their parents yell out for them over the music. Just as the song comes to an end, a new slow song begins to play. Almost immediately, I see people form into couples swaying to the music. Lexi grabs hold of Mark's hand and pull him to the centre of the dance floor. I smile as I see how they look lovingly into each other's eyes.
I feel Carter stand beside me, our shoulders touching ever so slightly. I glance over to him, realising how the circumstances had stacked up to us dancing together. I could feel my face grow pink at the thought of it. I glance once more to Carter but before I can look away, Carter's eyes catch mine. In an instant, he says, "Care for a dance?". Not knowing another response to the situation, I nod my head and take his hand. Carter leads me to the dance floor before placing his hands at my waist. I loop my arms around his neck. Butterflies flutter in my stomach as I realise how close we are. Carter's eyes don't leave mine; his deep, dark brown eyes pull me into them and refused to let me leave. The music continues to play but it feel like no one else was around us. Confusion and a strange happiness drift through my thoughts as I try to decipher my feelings. The music ending, knocks me out of my daze. I pull my hands from his neck and step back. "I'm...gonna go get some water." I say, before turning and walking into the crowd. The strange feeling stays with me as I fill my cup and bring it to my lips. I down the cup in one breath before placing it back. Just as I turn around, I feel myself bump into someone. He had messy black hair and his mask was pitch black.
