Chapter 5: Second Team

The ground shook as Destroyer Gaze delivered another earthquake to stun the raiders. Spike finally fainted from the impact, and Rudy was again standing on his own. He had no idea how long will the fight last, but all he got to do was to fend off the dragon for them to claim the 'reward' NK wanted them to get.

It was all intense out there in the cliff, while the second raid team was just there staying hidden. All they could do was to watch and wait for their turn to fight the dragon. More often than not, they end up not fighting at all. But that was against the awakened dragon; they always fight the non-awakened ones.

Evan watched Rudy persevered from the distance. He watched as Rudy kept up with the gargantuan strength of the dragon. The White Wolf could do the same, to be honest, but he was way less efficient than his former idol. Even though he stopped, he could not help but to be impressed by the Seven Knight's endurance.

"Ah, I hope he would faint by now!" Sera huffed loudly. "Just waiting for them to defeat the dragon is no fun!" She crossed her arms on her chest. "We always come here and not fight anything."

"But the dragon is strong. It's scary." Da Qiao chuckled as she continued holding the letter she cannot deliver at all means.

Yuri sighed and turned to Evan. "Evan, can't you ask Spike to ask NK if we could go before their team does? I mean, the main ones are supposed to go last, right?"

"It used to be like that." Daisy shrugged her shoulders. "But NK switched it for some reasons. Rudy didn't tell us what NK said about it. Kris refused to say either."

Sera started throwing a tantrum. "Argh! What a bummer! At least let me stay in a graveyard while we're at it! This tower with a cliff is absurd and annoying!"

After some silence from Evan, they all heard the dragon fall. Rudy sighed in relief before looking at his knocked-out teammates. He looked at the second team and smiled at them. Daisy shrugged again before walking to help him carry them back. Da Qiao went out to help Rudy and Daisy. Sera and Yuri, like always, refused to help- so Evan had to go and carry anyone they might leave out. Thankfully, Daisy opted to take Dellons while Da Qiao almost dragged Pascal.

Another round of fighting Destroyer Gaze ended.

"So, was there enough shards?" Evan talked to Rudy as they reached the waiting room. Then again, he kept his gaze on Ace who went to help his sister but was asked to help Da Qiao instead.

"Unfortunately, no. We need to go again before NK decides to order a siege." Rudy lied Kris down as Evan lied Spike. "It's going to be rough again, but you might just need to stand by like earlier."

The White Wolf only hummed as an answer. He turned around to see his teammates gather. None of these heroes can heal so they needed to wait for these four to wake up on their own. Though Evan could do so after focusing enough energy of destruction. He only sighed and waited for them to recover before fighting the dragon one more time.

Evan walked in the Castle Rush waiting room only to find Yuri, Spike, and Pascal in there. He let another woman who seemed to be amazed by the place.

"What's wrong, Hellenia?" the White Wolf squinted at her odd behavior.

"Nothing really. It seems like you're in a different setting than we are. Our house had cherry blossoms everywhere! But here- you have a place that resembles a fortress. The waiting rooms look like war rooms." Hellenia tried to smile before looking at everyone else. "There should be five of you, yes?"

"Dellons was called by NK. She was giving him more energy from the awakening shards we got from the raid earlier." Spike answered since no one wanted to talk.

Yuri hummed in agreement. "Well, he really needs it. Spike said NK did ask us to do the raid for him. Not that he did not work hard for it after all."

Steps echoed in the hall before the doors opened. Dellons walked in and greeted Hellenia with a sly smile. "Oh, hi there. You're the archangel, aren't you? Where's your sister?"

"She- she stayed in our place." Hellenia squinted before looking at Evan.

The male White Wolf sighed before walking to the door leading to the castle bridge. "Like always. Stay behind me so you can attack without being hurt."

"Let me defend you as well, Evan." Hellenia hovered in front of everyone. "I will be protecting everyone so please try to deal as much damage as you can."

Evan stared at herbefore shrugging, walking past her. He opened the door, and the five othersfollowed. Everyone knew this world was one painful battle after another.
