A TLK Story; Torn Apart

the teenage lion dozed on a whale of a rock. suddenly, out of the blue, rose appeared from the bushes. maisha stirred and fluttered his eyes from the sudden blast of light. "hey there," her sweet voice spoke. "hey," the teen rolled onto his side and grinned at her as she strode past and sat herself beside him.

"so, i want to give you a talk, on life." maisha sighed. "come on," she chuckled as she put a paw on his shoulder, urging him to turn to her. he did so, with a broad frown on his face. "now, you'll find a mate someday," rose started. that provoked maisha to think of dawn. he suddenly arose and ran away from her. "maisha!" she groaned.

the teen sat on a hillside. it was midnight, and the place was dim. the moon shone off of his fur. "dawn..." a tear fell down his face. there now was a wet stain on his face. he looked down at his paws, and started to mourn. "i... miss you," maisha breathed, looking up at the sky with droplets in his eyes.

the next morning, he arose to a loud sound. it sounded like an argument. the teen discreetly poked his head through the bushes. a dark grey wolf, almost black, was standing in front of zak. "stop meddling with our territory!" zak snarled; the hairs on his back rose up. "cmon. the food. give it over," the dark wolf barked. he was as stubborn as a mule. "you have plenty!" zak snapped, his teeth now showing.

suddenly maisha leapt forward and onto the dark wolf. they both tumbled down the headlong hill. "maisha! no!" zak cried out. maisha swiped at the black wolf, but soon howled as the wolf hit him on the muzzle, sending him flying onto the rough ground below. he began to grieve; his paw was unstable.

"maisha!" rose came drifting down the hill after him. she stopped; seeing he was lamenting, a compassionate but despairing look appearing on her face. "y-you okay?" she strode over, and examined his paw. maisha shook his head, and stared at the ground. "zak!" she suddenly howled, turning to face the face of the cliff.

zak came coasting down; seeing that maisha was battered, scooped him up and lay him on his back. "come on," he gestured to the grass hill near the cliff, as they were formed like stairs. rose leapt up easily, while zak slowed. "let's put him in his den," he muttered, seeing as it was night.

"oh, dawn," maisha lay in his grass bunk. on the tree beside him, he was making marking of a lioness with his talon. you could tell that he yearned for his soulmate, or at least that's what he called her. "i wish you could be here... now," he muttered, carving a lion next to the lioness and drawing a heart in the middle.

suddenly rose appeared. "h-huh?!" maisha was aghast from the shock. she glanced at the portrait on the tree. "you missing someone, eh?" she smirked. "u-uhm, no.." the teen reddened and shifted uncomfortably. "you can tell me," she planted a paw on his paw. "i-i... it's too sad..." he turned away.

there was an uneasy silence. "i won't tell anybody. i can help you," a beam formed on her face. "f-fine," maisha rotated to face her. "s-so... there's this girl, w-we were best friends-" he broke off and started to whimper. rose consoled, "i understand." the teenager glanced at her with wide, doleful eyes.

"and... i miss her," a tear ran down his face. rose was frowning; she was caring. "buddy, you'll find her. i promise." she managed a slight smile, trying to lighten the mood a little. "come on. let's go eat." she stood up and padded out, maisha following.

"but i thought that it was midnight, twilight." maisha pondered, tearing a dead buffalo apart. rose chortled. "we eat anytime!" he grinned and continued to eat. rose began a coughing fit. "you okay?" maisha was startled. "yeah... just a second," she leapt out of her seat and ran somewhere. maisha was discombobulated.

"morning!" zak called cheerfully. the teen leapt out of his bunk, and strode out enthusiastically. "we have some big news!" rose grinned as she nuzzled zak. "yeah?" maisha perched on the ground. "we're..." she glanced at zak for reassurance.
