Our drive to the University was a fast one, of course because I was driving! We missed all the afternoon traffic because of a wise womens words. I parked the car and my mother and I made our way to the main Auditorium where the graduation was taking place.
As we walked in I saw my two campus friends Ani and Izzy total party animals!!. They scream from across the hall and I just turn around pretending not to hear them. I tell my mum I'm going, and she sits with some lady that I don't know.
"Ari , Oh ..my ...Gosh... you look so hot ...is this you???"Ani says gwaking at me.
"Yeah Ari , howcome in 4 years we never seen you like this?" Izzy says holding me at arms length. I can check she is inspecting every inch of my body... I hate this attention.
"Well hello to you guys too!" I say in a sarcastic tone. Before I knew it we were in a group hug, laughing... Gosh im going to miss this.
"Ani, Izzy you guys look pretty as always, but I think we should go on and collect our gowns and caps." I say more seriously. I see the Auditorium is starting to full up and we would need to take our seats in a few moments.
As we walk over to collect our gowns and caps I get a few stares for people. I guess you all thought I never have it in me to look so hot.... well guess what I am!!
"Arianna" The girls say together. I turn back to look and Ani says " You should start dating now" I just stare at her blankly.
Yeah right me dating ?? Not happening yet. No one knows my news... This is going to be way harder than I thought.
"Hey Ari" Izzy say smiling. "Ani and I are going to the club tonight you should come its gonna be soo fun!!". I look at her and shake my head as I have other plans.
"Thanks for the invite but im spending time with my mum. And you know I can't dance". I say embarrassed.
"Next time Ari". Ani says. I hug them before we take our seats coz I know I won't be seeing them after grad. We have to sit in alphabetical order according to our surnames. So of course I'm sitting with strangers.
The ceremony starts there is about 3000 people in this auditorium and it's getting pretty hot. I'm bored out of my mind, and all I can do is think of how I'm going to tell my mum the news.

An hour has pased and I haven't been called yet. I only bothered to watch Ani and Izzy walk up. Gosh this is crazy we just have to stare....
I'm deep in my toughts when I hear "Arianna Mitchell", been called out by the Dean. shit thats me !!! I mentally slap my self , praying not to trip over coz thats possible with me.
"Arianna Mitchell, graduates with a Cum Lude in Bachalor of Education Degree."
All I hear is screaming!! shit did the Dean just say Cum Lude .... oh gosh how is that possible??? Im so proud of myself I mentally pat my self on my back for all my hard work for this last 4 years.
One of the best moments of my life. After another 2 hours the ceremony is over thank God for that. I never see Ani or Izzy again I figured they already left to the club.
I make my way over to my mum she was in the same spot where I last saw her. I still couldn't recognise the lady she was with. "Hey mum". I look at her then smile to the lady. Who's she's with.
"Hunny this is Tony , my friend from high school, her son Brad also graduated, Tony this is Arianna my daughter."
"Hi Tony" I say with a confussed look.
"Hi Ari, I'm Tony. Well congrats on the Cum Lude !! and you look stunning , you look way better than Brad described you." I cough... wait the ass Brad, is her son??? He was the biggest Jerk I've ever know... and I can't believe what she has just said.
Oh well we better get a move on I'm starving. "Hey mum it's getting late , think we should go." "Yes hun". She holds my hand.
We say our goodbyes and walk to the car. There where still so many people waiting inside I'm not sure why. I decided that I'll drive since..... well since my big news that I need to share.
"Congrats hunny I so happy that you recived a Cum Lude!! This is such a proud moment for me."
"Thanks mum for all your support."
"You know hun , if your dad was here he would of been so proud of you." I just smile at her and look back at the road as I see her eyes fill up with tears.
My dad passed away, so my mum had both roles to play. I must say she did pretty well as both my brother and sister have thier degrees and now me... My brother and sister have moved out of the house for about 8 years now. So for 8 years its just been my mum and I ,we grown quite close. And this is just going to make things alot harder.
