⚓ hearts.

"Kai!" Viviane exclaimed as she bumped into a post-box with a blindfold on.

"Sorry!" He winced but guided her properly this time, "Just a little bit further, I'm so excited for you to see!"

Viviane laughed in belief, "I know, in your excitement you couldn't even direct me in a straight line and practically almost gave me brain damage."

He took off her blindfold, and she blinked in relief. Slowly, she smiled.

It had been more than a year since Kai had saved Viviane from drowning. And since Viviane had saved Kai from getting into trouble.

"This is where we first met," she said, her voice serene and content. She then guffawed at his originality of a date idea and he elbowed her. He then walked along the beach, and she ran behind him.

"We're going to see Charlotte."

Viviane was surprised, "We're going to my mother's grave? On a date?"

"No, silly. Our ship, Charlotte. But your mother did have a special request before she died," Kai took a deep breath. "I was always going to go through with it, regardless, but I stuck to my promise." They boarded the ship. "I just never thought I could do it literally."

"Do what?" She was curious, never knowing that Kai had talked to her mother in her last moments.

"Now that we've found an anchor, it's time to slowly let it go. We can stand up on our own." Kai gestured to the ship's anchor as the ship groaned and creaked.

"But this ship hasn't even been able to move!"

"That's because something kept it down, remember?"

"Edward must have lied. He said this thing was too old and grumpy to move." Viviane puffed silently in amusement.

"I think Papa was talking about himself," joked Kai.

They observed the calm sea in serenity, holding hands. She looked up at him, and his lips met hers. They were stuck in there forevermore.

"I love you, Viviane."

"I love you, Kai."

He then smiled, his grey eyes twinkling with giddiness. "When I first met you, I thought you were a crazy suicidal maniac. But you were just standing there, observing. Your mother was right," he turned to tap her nose, "your eyes... they had the potential of life yet they looked so lifeless. You couldn't smile, and I had the strong urge to make you smile. To make you feel worthwhile... like how you make me feel. You were that anchor that kept me from drifting to the wrong path but at the same time, you liberated me. You moved me. You move me."

"And you rescued me from a bleak story," Viviane whispered, looking at Kai with admiration, "from my sinking life."

"And I taught you to float... that you weren't alone-"

"We're still going with this anchor metaphor?" She rose an eyebrow, laughing.

"Let me finish!" He stuck his tongue out and then his expression softened, becoming sincere. "You taught me to hope, and made feel wanted. Needed. You told me I was misunderstood, underestimated. You have always had an anchor to my heart."

"Well thanks for making me smile again." Tears rolled down her eyes in happiness. She was in bliss, and it couldn't have been any better than it was right there and then.

Their faces were close, their tears mixing together.

He broke from her hold and knelt down on one knee, making Viviane gasp softly.

"Yes!" She said before he even asked her to marry him.

"Viva, let me ask the question!"

She laughed and cried, "Okay!"

"Be my anchor until death do us part, for evermore. Will you marry me?"

"YES!"

They could have sworn they heard someone say, "About time!" They laughed.

A shooting star passed by swiftly, and hope seemed like a possible dream. It wasn't impossible. Nothing was.

A/N: I wrote this short story on the 2nd of June 2014, all in a day, all on paper. I was procrastinating revising for my GCSEs and suddenly had the urge to write about the beach, and how much I missed it because I was stuck indoors for summer. That of course didn't turn out to be a great story - it was mostly me complaining about being stuck inside.

I was going through my lyric book until I stopped on something I had written a year before that, about anchors and I fell in love with the endless metaphors.

Viviane was a combination of imagination and a friend I based her on. Kai, was completely out of the blue. He wasn't going to be the love interest. He was just going to be that guy who thought she was going to kill herself and run off but then I thought about it - no one would just run off. Not if someone was hurt and they could do something about it. And Kai was part of her healing process.

I hope this inspired emotions, because it got me to think about life. And all the little things.

And I hope you liked this story! Please vote, comment and share! <3

P.S. DON'T COPY THIS OR I'LL DROWN YOU LIKE AN ANCHOR BY SUING YOU :P

On a side note, thank you to my loyal followers! I love you guys! See you soon when I update the other books!
