Kellie was surprisingly talkative. It was only the second day, and we were getting along like old

 best friends.

"So, Phoenix," Kellie- or, Mother now,- started, "What do you think about this place? Is it fit for

your taste?" She questioned. I scanned the kitchen and was mesmerized by the cleanliness of it.

Everything was in place, not a speck of dust on the sparkling blue marble countertop.

"It's fine," I stated.

"Ok, anything you'd like?"

"Well, ice cream does sound good," I thought out loud.

Kellie-no-Mother smiled mischievously and blinked, her eyes glowing for a second. On the table

next to us, the air seemed to shimmer and a bowl of perfectly scooped vanilla-chocolate-swirl

ice cream appeared.

I took a step back, "What was that?"

Mother smiled, "Can't tell you just yet! Need to make sure it's you."

I frowned, "What?"

Mother's eyes glowed a bright lavender, and I was suddenly falling off the edge of a cliff. I

screamed, there was nothing, no end to the dark abyss I was falling into. My bright red hair

whipped at my face, arms grabbing, straining to catch hold of something to break my fall. I was

desperate now.

"Wake up!" I screamed at myself.

"Mom! KELLIE!" I cried.

"Relax,"

I heard a voice, I turned my head around but saw nobody there.

"This is all in your head, but you need to find a way to escape it." The Voice was telling me what to do.

I could already feel the frigid air getting warmer. My light brown eyes turned into the color of

molten lava, I felt fire in my veins, comforting me, making me stronger, and just like that, I

stopped falling. I gasped and looked around. Kellie was watching me intently.

"Phoenix, h-how do you feel?"

"... u-umm, I-I don't f-feel too good," I stammered.

"I need to tell you something," Kellie started seriously, "Phoenix, you have already noticed some

strange things that have been going on here, I've seen it in your memory."

I was confused for a moment, but then widened my eyes.

"K-kellie- no - Mother, what am I?" I chose the words carefully.

Her eyes softened, "Nix, you are special, very special."

I was frustrated, "Tell me, what am I?"

"You are a witch." She said simply.

I shook my head, "You crazed maniac!"

I ran out of the house.

"I can help you!" She called after me.

"I don't want you to! If I need help, I'll go to an asylum myself!"

I was lifted up by an unseen force. "Let go of me or I'll beat the guts out of you!" I screamed.

I flew back to Mother's house, faster than you can say "witch". Mother was waiting for me.

Smiling softly.

"I want to help you," Her eyes flashed purple.

"No!" I shouted as loud as I could.

"How about some water?"

She shoved a sparkling glass of water in my mouth, forced my mouth open, and made me drink

the contents. I became sleepy and light headed right after.I looked at Mother once more. I

saw her smiling at me sadly, faintly hearing, "Let me help you, Nix." then everything fell away

into dizzying darkness.
