Chapter 1
Mr. StoneI plopped down in my chair and sighed. "RAZIEL!!" I jumped back up and ran into his office. "Yes?Mr. Stone," I asked and he stood up and walked over to me. "I told you about a million times that I want sugar in my coffee and yet you keep forgetting!" he said shoving his coffee cup in my hand. "I'm sorry Mr. Stone, I'll bring you another cup of coffee. Made right this time." I said turning around "just bring me a soda, hopefully you can't screw that up." he said walking back over to his desk. I ran out to the office as fast as I could in these stupid heels. I threw the coffee away and brought Mr. Stone his soda. I hate my life. I know it could be worse but I hate working for Mr. Stone.
It was almost time to leave and I can't believe how long it took. I stretched surprised by how sore I was. "Raziel, I need to speak to you." Mr. Stone asked and it wasn't until now that I realized that he was standing in front of my desk. "Sure!" I said cheerfully even though I was scared at what he needed to say. He looked around the room that only had a couple people in it. "Lets go somewhere more private," he said before walking over to the elevator and gesturing to me to follow.
I looked over at Mr. Stone. We were both on the roof of the building. "Come here and look how tall up we are," he said as he leaned over the short brick fence. I walked over and stood next to him but he grabbed my hand and pulled me closer so that I was leaning up against the fence. I leaned over and looked at the beautiful scenery. It was sunset and the city looked amazing and I took it all in before I felt someone wrap there hands around my waist and they rested their head on my shoulder. "Beautiful isn't it, just like you." Mr. Stone whispered in my ear and I turned to face him "I hope this doesn't affect my job because I don't feel anything like that towards you." I said and he frowned at me "Raziel I like you. A lot. But not in that way," he said. He leaned closer to me "you need to go." he whisper before he lightly pushed my shoulder and before I knew it I was falling. Literally. I didn't scream or make a noise I was still in pure shock at what just happened. I looked down and I saw the ground coming closer. I closed my eyes and wished I had wings. Any type of wings just something to prevent me from hitting the concrete. Then it all stopped and my wish came true. I wasn't going to fall. "What the hell?" I said out loud as I stared down at the ground that was still far away but then I realized I was slowly flying back up. I looked behind me. My eyes widened in shock as I stared at wings that were coming out of my back. The shock started kicking in and I started falling again as my wings stretched out. I screamed as I neared the ground. I tried to control my wings, it felt like haves another pair of arms. I tried to flap them like a bird would and I slowly made my way up until I was back on the roof of the building. Mr. Stone was nowhere to be seen but he probably thought I was dead and left.
I stood in the roof staring at the big black wings conning out of my back. They looked pretty but they weren't angel like although they had a fur or feathery type feeling to them. They we're shaped more curved than the oval shaped wings that I thought they would be like. I ran my hands along my wings until I started reaching my back. I felt where my skin started turning into wings and I then realized that I made two holes in my shirt, not to mention one of my good shirts. Will I have to cut holes in all my shirts? I stretched out my wings before trying to fold them on my back. "Just feels like wearing a jacket." I said to myself but I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to walk around the city with wings. I used my keys to open the door on the roof and go back to my desk, luckily everyone already left. I looked around the room and noticed that a big black jacket on the back of someone's chair. I took it to wear because I didn't bring my jacket and it wouldn't have mattered, my jackets too small.
I walked outside and just looked around at the busy city. I like the city, I really do but I'll always miss the country that I grew up with. I turned to start walking home but I bumped into someone. "Sorry," I quickly said and tried to move out of the way but they had their arms wrapped around me and without saying I word that pushed me over into a alley. I stumbled but managed to stay upright. "What the hell?!" I said looking over at the person standing in front of me. This time I could see them pretty well to know that it was a guy but their hood was covering their face. "Sorry, Raziel." the mystery person said before I got hit in the back of my head with something and darkness consumed me.
