A/N: Hiii, sorry for the wait. This chapter became pretty long - about 5,600 words I think :p I think it kinda went downhill towards the end, though. But let me know what you think.

CHAPTER FIFTY-EIGHT: CHANCE

-A few months later-

Harry

The night was so dark that I could barely see five feet in front of me. The rain poured heavily upon the earth, and lightning struck and thunder crashed against the sky. I could hear the hungry growls of the dead all around me – but everything was almost black – and I couldn't catch a glimpse of them even whenever the lightning flashed. I stood frozen where I was – not even daring to take one step forward since I had no idea if whether or not a walker was going to jump me.

"Harry..." A familiar voice suddenly whispered softly – sounding as if it was coming from every direction like the wind.

My breath hitched.

"Laura..?"

"Help us, Harry..." the voice whispered again, "help us, please..."

"Laura?" I called out to her, "Laura, where are you..?"

"Help us..."

At her words, I didn't waste any more time. I didn't even stop to think...and I just ran forward as fast as I could – not even caring if anything was blocking my way.

I kept running. I could hear walker snarls all around, but somehow...nothing ever tried to make a grab for me. But as the sound of Laura's voice refused to leave my mind...I barely even heard the background noise and just continued to run.

"Hang on, Laura..." I panted, "I'm coming, baby. I'm coming..."

"Please help us..."

My feet felt like lightning as I pushed myself even harder to get to her. Her voice was echoing everywhere around me, and I didn't even know where she was...but I just kept running forward.

I skidded to a halt in a dark, empty, windowless room – the only light being the thin, eerie moonbeams that shone dimly through tiny holes in the roof and walls.

"Laura?" I called for her again.

There was silence.

However, moments later, huge spotlights began lighting up in a bright trail across the floor – making me jump and look up at the ceiling to try and see where the hell the light was coming from. But all I saw was a dark, black roof – so dark that I couldn't even see how high the roof was.

The spotlight trail led towards a firmly shut door. Cautiously, I followed the lights until I was standing directly in front of it. Swallowing the lump in my throat, I placed my hand on the doorknob and turned it slowly – gulping as the door began to slowly and creepily creak open.

The horrible stench of rotting flesh hit me like a bomb as soon as that door opened. I exclaimed in disgust and began to gag; having to hold my hand over my mouth & nose just to stop myself from throwing up. But as the bright beams from the mysterious spotlights slowly began to seep into the foul-smelling dark room – I immediately shouted in alarm and had to stagger backwards – my eyes widening in terror at the horrifying sight before me.

Laura's dead body lay sprawled out across the floor – with Eric & Lilly both lying dead right beside her. My heart stopped, and my breathing immediately began to intensify – hardly believing what I was seeing.
