A Beautiful Masquerade

Class went by in a blur although I thought it would take forever but math with Jannan I think I could survive and maybe even pass the class.

 I went to my locker first to drop off my book and get the necessary ones for my other classes after lunch.

Walking down the hall I saw Sara but she ignored me, we do acknowledge each other but I guess she was still upset about this morning so I let it pass.

As I walked into the lunchroom there were hushed whispers as I walked by but I didn't think much of it. I walked towards the table where my friends were.

"What were you thinking!?" Jamie whisper yells at me.

"I was thinking of food, I'm hungry." Not sure what Jamie is referring to.

"Woman seriously, what's wrong with you?"

"Well, I'm not sick but I am cold. Does the school have the heat on yet?"

"Ugh, you're unbelievable!"

"No I'm not, I'm absolutely real, you see me and hear me." I have no clue what Jamie's talking about but I couldn't give up a good opportunity to mess with her.

"I'm talking about what happened this morning with the new kid, everyone's talking about it, and word is, your his number one target. No one ignores him or talks back to him, he's dangerous." Jamie finishes looking around her as if something would appear from thin air and attack her for saying that.

So that's what she was talking about, I still don't see how that's a problem.

"What's the big deal, we had a small confrontation, he annoyed me, I may have annoyed him and then I walked away to avoid the situation". I try explaining.

"Jamie's right Yesna, him and his friends are not to be messed with." Vic adds.

"True they may be all good-looking but rumor is they were expelled from their last school but no one knows why" 

"Come on Maya, not you too, its not a big deal and you guys just said its all just rumors, how can you guys know anything that is being said is true. I'm not going to waste my time believing rumors and they're the ones with a problem, so they deal with it, I don't have enough time to waste on useless problems."

"But," Jamie's about to start again but I cut her off, "Forget love, I can handle myself and anyways I'm hungry so can we please get some food now" I give them a big grin.

"You and food, is there anything else you ever think about" Mariam says laughing while we all get up to go to the lunch line, which thankfully isn't that long.

"Of course I do"

"Really, Please enlighten us" Vic says

"Well, I was thinking, I should sleep when I get home, I'm really tired"

They just rolls their eyes and stand in line.

"You know I think we should get you a boyfriend or something"

"I'm offended Vic, Yesna's mine" Maya  grabs my arm.

Obviously Vic was just playing because she knows as a Muslim I don't date.

"Speaking of boyfriend, where's Mark" Jamie asks confused. "He said he was gonna be late, had to talk to one of his teacher, he's been having trouble with his paper that's due next week, but he should be here soon"

"Right behind ya" Mark says wrapping his arms around Vic.

"How did it go" Vic turns around to face him.
