Chapter I

The light which came from my screen was high and blinded my greenish brown eyes. For several hours I had been sitting in the same spot, the same position and that made my lower back, and my butt hurt. In sync, I moved my body to the left finally giving my back a relief and adjusted my glasses. I finished reading the last article for my presentation about the supernatural and other weird stuff, but the strangest thing about all of this was that the previous article which I've just read was the one I believed the most.

My mind tried to make sense out of this so, I scrolled the page further down, into the comments section but, I discovered they weren't that helpful since there were only three comments there. In the first one, it said that whoever believed in this crap was crazy and should find psychiatric help; the second comment explained it was all true and the person had experienced it already, reporting it was awesome and unbelievable, and the third comment just had some random digits posted on it.

My hand went through my hair and left most of it behind the left ear. I scrolled back up and reread the title of the article loud and clear. "The existence of protectors in our lives". My eyes never left the title, and while I read it once and twice, I kept thinking about what to do about this. I clearly had an opinion, but I was too afraid people would judge me for being able to think for myself and not some standard everyone wanted to believe.

I squeezed my hands together, and after a bit longer I scrolled back down to the comments, clicked on a new comment and started writing. In a matter of minutes, I had written about 400 words in it. I clicked on the post button and waited. My eyes didn't leave the screen. Minutes passed, and not a single comment got posted after mine. That's when I heard my stomach growl. I gave a quick glance to the computer watch, almost as if I was to lose the response to my comment but I was still able to see the time. It was almost midnight, and I hadn't eaten anything for nearly four hours.

I looked one last time at the comments, but there was still nothing there so, I got up from my chair and walked to the kitchen. My phone started ringing but it wasn't a call, it was a message from Nathan. Is it just me who thinks this or does anyone else believe that this guy can't get a no for an answer? He was asking me for another chance; he assured me that he needed to control what I was able to do or not since I was horrible at doing so.

"Argh, I can't deal with him right now. I'll take care of it later." I threw my phone back into my pocket. When I reached the kitchen, I went right near my fridge. I opened its door and looked at the bottom shelf to find the frozen spaghetti and meatballs that I had bought this afternoon, my hands let go of the fridge door and grabbed the delicious food, as the fridge closed I heard it screeching, the worst god damn freaking sound I've ever heard. "I really need a new fridge." turning on my heels, I got to the microwave and opened it putting the food inside and closing it once again. I put the time to unfreeze and heat it a bit.

I heard my phone buzzing, again, which somehow made me jump, scared.

"Didn't I just turn it off?" I unlocked my phone to see it was Nathan once again. This time he started to give me orders and telling me that I should forgive him for his betrayal.

I went into the messages and wrote him one with a small sentence. 'Just leave me alone Nathan and by the way, if you think I'm disappointing, you should look at the way you write considering your main language is English.' I don't care about his opinion anymore. He's just a close minded brat who has nothing better to do than take his anger on other people and pretend he is strong.

Next time I will not be so nice and the police shall too be involved. He drinks alcohol like he breathes air and he smokes non-stop, but the worst part is that I have no idea how I fell for him.

I made my way back to the living room but my mind was still all over him. I shook my head and told myself 'Cat, stop thinking about him and start thinking about your happiness. This isn't his life, it's yours.'

I sat back on my chair and pushed my finger on the F5 button, which refreshed the page. I scrolled back down to the comment section to see someone had replied to mine but I didn't have the strength to open and see what was the reply.

It could be bad, but what if it was good? "Well, the only way to find out is to open it so, here goes nothing." With one click, I closed my eyes and waited for the comment to fully load.

Confusion was the first emotion I felt as soon as I opened my eyes. It was written 'read this out loud'

"Gah Enah Kiriwi... What is this supposed to mean? Did I spell it right?" I kept reading the comment on my mind. It didn't make sense but while I got lost in my thoughts, I was unable to hear the thunder exploding near me and soon, the brightness of the lightning blinded my eyes.

I jumped out of my chair scared but I didn't get a break because soon enough, the ground started shaking. The wind started flowing through my house knocking books from their shelves, throwing chairs and breaking glasses all over the ground.

Out of nowhere, I heard someone's voice. It hummed a melody, a melody that soothed me, something that soused to what my mother used to sin me when I was younger. My eyes felt heavy, my vision getting foggier. An headache forming in my head, but still, I saw a white figure passing through me, but I couldn't react.

It could've been just my imagination, who knows. I was falling into my deep slumber when I felt my body being heated up. And that's the last thing I remember.
