" Okay, now teach me how your telekinesis works!" I steer us back on subject. A mischievous grin grew on his face. I watched Luca scramble to find a small leaf, his eyes sparkling.
"Just focus on the leaf, tell it to float up. Try imagining it floating up in your head." Luca eagerly instructed me. I obliged, my eyes narrowed until all I could see was the leaf. I blocked out everything else and forced my will upon the leaf. It took several tries, but eventual it floated up about an inch. At first I thought I was imagining it, but when I looked back at Luca he was grinning like an idiot.
"You can do it!" He cheered. Luca and I sat for a moment in peaceful silence. I realize I haven't noticed the voices since meeting Luca. I must have been so busy gushing about finding someone like me, I didn't have time to worry about other people's thoughts. Wait a moment, can Luca hear the voices too?
As if he read my mind, Luca asked,
"Raine? How do you hear other people's consciousness?" He must have had a similar train of thought. I willingly explain,
"Imagine instead of pushing, pull the thoughts from the person." Luca nods. I debate if I should tell him about involuntarily hearing voices.."You hear voices?" Luca's voice breaks, again he reminds me of a puppy. Biting my head I nod. I can't hide anything from him anymore. I'm still looking down, but I can feel his soft eyes on me. I take deep breath and stare at the leaf from earlier. I study the lines and curves, it's ridges and spots. I start to feel the air become less tense.
"Your getting the hang of it," Luca quietly giggles. I realize I've made the leaf float again, I must've been thinking about the first time I made it float. A smile creeps on my face. Looking through my eyelashes, I notice Luca wore a soft smile as well.
