Sunday went by quickly. Aidyn has been avoiding me, or I have been avoiding him. I sighed. I was walking around the campus. Actually trying to not get lost, because there was no one around to show me the right direction. I think I said something wrong. But I don’t get it. How could I say something wrong? After Aidyn walked out of his room and then out of the dorm, Tyler left with him. Lyric had to do homework in his room and Calli had to try and find a place in our room for all her new clothes. I just left the dorm to go on a walk.

And honestly I haven’t been back there since then. So I’m already outside for a few hours. But it doesn’t matter. I actually socialized more. I met a girl, I believe her name is Melissa, and she seems nice. Really pretty too. I went to the library and borrowed some books, I even went to the gaming hall, because that’s totally normal here! I had a chat with some guys, asking how I was adapting here. I believe one of them was called Chris. People here are actually kind of nice. Other than I expected.

I played with my phone, swiping from screen to screen, trying to decide if I should call my dad or not. A strict side of me put my phone back in my pocket. I wasn’t going to call him, let him miss me first. I sat against a tree on the grass and opened a book I just borrowed and started reading, to get my mind of things. After a while more people were outside and making their way to the dining hall, I figured it was almost dinner time. I put the book in my small backpack.

I pushed myself of the ground and made my way to the dining hall. Apparently I’m right on queue because the line was just shrinking. I smiled at myself and stood in the line, which I’ve noticed can be quite boring by yourself. I got a plate with Mac and cheese and a glass of water. I looked around the hall to find Lyric, Tyler and Calli already sitting at a table, apparently discussing something. But they stopped talking when I came in view. ‘Hey.’

Tyler and Lyric where being indifferent. They didn’t even looked at me went on with their dinner. I frowned, did I ruin our barely started friendship?

“Where the hell have you been?” Calli shouted and I was sure almost the whole campus could hear her. “Walking.” I sat down and put the plate on the table.

“Where to? Jerusalem?” Lyric said, now finally looking at me. “No.” I said matter-of-factly. “Paris, of course.’’

Calli giggled and flipped her long hair over her shoulder. Lyric just chuckled. “Aha.”

Aidyn put down his plate on the table loudly, making me jump up and scream. Tyler put his hands over his ears. “Why do girls have to scream all the time?!” He fake pouted. Calli laughed. “It’s just what they do.” Lyric stated. Calli punched him in the shoulder and he fake cried. I watched my new roommates. It all seemed fine again, at least between them. Still I wondered what I had done wrong, and why they suddenly stopped talking when I came in sight. I know I have no right to butt into their private life, a friendship lasting longer than my two days of being here, but I still felt a bit left out.

I sighed and looked at Aidyn. He was just ignoring the quite childish sight. It was silent through dinner. He was silent on the way to our dorm. He was silent in the dorm. He was just silent. And when Aidyn was signaling Tyler that he wanted the bowl of popcorn, currently resting on my lap, I had enough.

“FOR THE LOVE OF COOKIES AND PANCAKES! TALK!”

Tyler was holding popcorn in his hands and had already opened his mouth to eat, but dropped all the popcorn when I shouted. He gaped at me. Aidyn looked up and raised his eyebrow, I think Lyric was having a heart-attack and Calli was giggling. I crossed my arms and pouted for the extra effect.

Not helping.

“Can anybody tell me why it’s not ok to say basketball?” I mentioned. Tyler sat back in his chair and sighed. “There’s nothing wrong with saying basketball, Ave.”
