                                                    Kaylie's POV

I walk down the halls of my school, looking for somebody I have never looked for in my life. I’ve never had a reason to look for or care about him. Jaden Wills. We are doing a history project together(we didn’t get to choose our lab partners). As the halls start to clear up, I notice him by his locker talking to his friend Henry. Or is it Hulio...? No, it’s definitely Henry. Hulio’s that cute guy I met last summer in Mexico. I know Henry from parties and school. I walk up to Jaden, grab his arm, and pull him into a empty classroom. I hope no one saw that - they’ll probably think I’m some obsessive creeper girl or rapist or something. People at this school get the craziest ideas.

"Meet me at my house after school to get started on the project. Sorry if I hurt your arm," I say as I hand him a sticky note with my address on it.

"O-Okay, and no my arm is f-fine." He mutters. Guys tend to act like this around me, they think I am hot and have nice boobs. I run track so I am pretty fit and toned.

"Okay, then. See you later," I say waving walking out of the room.

"Nice ass!" Henry yells at me, smirking.

"Isn’t it?!" I yell back smiling. We do that a lot. We are kind of friends because at parties neither of us want to be at or care about, we end up talking the whole time. I reach my locker, shove books in it, and grab my homework. I walk out the front doors and to my truck. Yeah, I have a truck. Deal with it. 'My friends' say the trucks are stupid and shiny sports cars are better, and I agree. But I love my trucks. The beginning of freshman year when they pulled me into their little group, saying I would be more popular if I was a blonde. It was dark brown. I am planning on dying it back to my original color after I graduate. That’s in five weeks. Five weeks left with those stupid, brainless, back-stabbing gossipers. Five weeks left of being fake. Then I’m finally free after almost four years of this shit.

When I pull in my driveway, my ten-year-old sister, Taylor, runs out of the house and tackles me in a hug.

"Kaylie! I missed you," She says.

"I missed you too, Tay," I say smiling. Taylor and Dad went on a vacation to California to visit his parents. I would have gone, but I wanted to stay back and go to school. And my mom wanted to stay since I was staying to make sure I was safe and didn’t throw parties the entire two weeks that she would have been gone. Not long after I walk into my house, Jaden pulls into the driveway.

"Mom, I have somebody coming over to work on a project," I say. If she makes a huge deal about him being a guy... I don’t know. But it won’t be fun.

"Is it a guy?" She ask back. Of course that’s the first question.

"Yeah."

"Is he cute?"

"Mother!" I yell as I open the front door. Jaden nods quietly without a hello or anything. He probably heard our conversation. Fuck.

"Oh, did you hear us?" I ask. He nods. Great. “You can come in, you know,” I say, moving over to let him in. If there was an award for being awkward around guys that aren’t super hot when I don’t even like them, I would probably win it every year. Even though I am popular, I’m not the most confident thing. At all. A faint remnant of a few scars on my wrists that no one but me ever cares enough to notice remind me every day.

Yeah, I self-harmed. We’ll get to that later.

"Let's work in the lounge," I say walking towards it. I walk in and sit on my favorite couch, with Jaden following behind me. I open my book and start to ask about what topic he wants to do when Taylor walks in.

"Oh. Sorry, I was gonna watch TV because Mom is watching her stupid cooking show while folding laundry," Taylor says.

"Okay, that's fine. Is anybody in the dining room?" I ask. She nods.

"Dad is in there. I think outside would be a good place to study," she says, gesturing to our backyard. We have a pool and a trampoline. Which me and Taylor play outside on almost everyday. We are really close for siblings. Like Ava, one of my few real friends. Her and her younger brother do not get along at all. Walking into their house when their parents aren’t around is like walking into World War III.

"Okay. Do you want to work outside instead?" I ask, turning to Jaden. He nods. I walk out of the lounge, walk out back and get splashed by water. I wipe the water off my face and see my dad laughing in the pool.

"This is something I never do, but can we put off the project for like two hours?" I ask Jaden, turning to him. He nods. "You like swimming?" I ask him. He smiles and nods.

"I might have a pair of swim shorts from cousins that they’ve left here," I say as I walk back towards my room.

"I have a swim suit in my backpack. Henry has a pool, so yeah," he says as he unzips his bag.

"Okay, the bathroom’s in the hall and first door to the left," I say, pointing. He grabs his backpack and disappears into the bathroom. I run to my room and grab a bikini. I would wear a one-piece, but I left it at Ava's. I walk into my bathroom and change in there. When I finish I run straight to the back door and open it quietly. Jaden is sitting on the edge of the pool talking to Dad. I quietly tiptoe behind him and shove him into the water.  When he comes out of the water he glares at me. I laugh and walk to the deeper end of the pool. I jump in and when I come out of the water I swim over to Dad. I jump on his back.

"Ride like the wind, Bullseye!" I yell. Dad laughs and Jaden looks at me with questioning looks.

"What? I like Toy Story. Get over it," I say, smiling.

--Four hours later--

Jaden has to leave(his mother texted him and told him to be home for dinner in fifteen minutes). We got quite a bit of the project done.

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow," I say. I scratch nervously at my arm because a mosquito bite me. Wait... why am I nervous?

"Yeah, and the day after, and the day after that until we finish the project," He says. I smile and roll my eyes.

"Yeah, but you have to deal with me and my sexy awesomeness. Thought I’d warn you now.” He laughs.

"You know, you aren't as bad as people say you are," he says, getting in his car.

"I know, people at school think I’m just another snotty, bitchy, bratty rich kid," I mutter. I look at his eyes and see that they’re green.

“I thought your eye color was blue," I say.

"Uh, yeah. My eye color is actually green, but I wear blue contacts. I hate having green eyes, and I look better with blue. At least I think so," he says.

"I think you look better with green eyes. Just saying," He smiles a little.

"Okay, well, I'll see you tomorrow, I guess," he says closing his car door. I wave and watch as he pulls out of the driveway and drives away.

Gosh, he was really cute with green eyes. Heck, he is always cute.

Wait, what did I just think?
