I wake up to my sister shaking my shoulder.
"Andy come on wake up" She whines.
I grumble and put my pillow over my face, "Go away"
She exaggerates her sigh "It's just so lonely in this house"
I peer from my pillow and I see her putting her hand on her head like a damsel in distress. Oh my I have a drama queen on my hands she probably picked it up from me.
I get up groggily and say "I'm up, I'm up."
She claps excitedly and tugs me out of bed, "Can we go to the mall? PacSun is having a HUGE sale and I can't drive myself."
I sigh in defeat "Fine, and only because I want to make you happy not because of the sale."
She laughs her bubbly life, the one that I thought was gone forever after the divorce. My god Andy do you have to make everything depressing? Stop being such a downer. I take a deep breath, "I'm gonna get ready. Eat some breakfast and I'll meet you downstairs."
She skips out of the room in success. I roll my eyes and peer into my luggage. I find a pair of light wash skinny jeans and a an oversized olive green sweater. I tug on my hightop converse. I glance quickly in the mirror seeing the rats nest of hair I have and snort out loud. Yanking my hair into a bun that isn't one of those cute messy buns you see on Pinterest. I brush my teeth and head downstairs. Amanda is bouncing on her feet, I smile and try to remember the last time we had sibling bonding time.

Amanda pulls out clothes from the racks looking at some in disgust and some in awe. Amanda finds me a cute pair of navy blue boyfriend jeans and a strapless white top. Amanda squeals in delight when she sees me in the clothes. she inherited the sense of style gene. She tries on various items of clothes that even me the shopping "queen" is getting a little tired. After a while Amanda and I walk out. Amanda is clearly satisfied with her purchases as she struts next to me. I smile knowing this is one of the first times in a while she has genuinely enjoyed herself. My phone buzzes and i see the notification
Evan: hey give me a call when u can
I remember my last conversation with him and decide that he can wait a couple hours. Amanda and I walk to the food court settling for some Panda Express. We gossip about her school drama and she fills me on a boy she likes trying her best to explain him. I feel a tap on my shoulder I turn and I see Donovan. His eyes bright in excitement "I didn't know you were gonna be here."
I smile at him "Well there was a sale at pacsun we couldn't miss out" i look back at my sister who's eyebrows are raised and her eyes are sparkling with curiosity. I feel my cheeks turn red as I look back at Donovan.
My sister speaks up "You can join us if you want. "
He looks at me for approval "Yeah I don't mind." As he takes the seat next to me.
I start feeling self conscious wondering if my hair is as bad as it was this morning. Oh god it's probably a rats nest I look homeless. Good job Andy! Way to blow your chances with a guy who is gonna help you get over the one at home who is probably making out with his new girlfriend. No stop thinking about him Andy its obsessional and kinda creepy.
My sister coughs interrupting my thoughts, "Uhm Andy I was just asking how you guys know each other."
I blink back to reality "Oh yeah we went to high school together."
Donovan continues a conversation with my sister, unlike most guys who would ignore her. We all walk together to Urban Outfitters my sister running around looking for more expensive clothes to buy. Donovan and I keep meeting eyes and stupidly I look away.
Donovan finally speaks up "I've been meaning to ask, do you remember that diner that we would eat at in high school?"
I nod shyly "Yeah, I loved the vanilla shakes they had there."
"Hah I remember how often you ordered them. Well I was wondering if I could get you a shake Saturday night to reminisce the good old high school days together." He smiles at me, making my heart race.
"I'd really like that." My cheeks turning red.
"Phew I thought you might reject me again. I'll pick you up at 7?" He nervously runs his hand thru his hair.
After blushing profusely from both embarrassment and shyness I recover "Okay, text me when you are on your way."
He waves awkwardly and says "I'll see you soon Andy."
I wave back. Amanda is walking out observing this exchange "Oh MY GOD! You have a date with Donovan don't you?"
I try and hide my smile but I can't help it "Yeah I do." My phone buzzes again another text from Evan.
Evan: urgent please call me
What am I going to do?
