"Wake up Angela!" yelled my brother. I turned over and rubbed my eyes. I stepped out of the tent to see everyone setting the picnic table. Zac looked horrified for some reason. Everytime my dad would past by him his face would turn to fear. What did my dad do this time? I walked up to him placing a kiss on his cheek. "What's wrong with you? You look as if you seen a ghost." I asked. He takes my arm and leads me next to the lake. "I saw something last night that creeped me out." he said softly. "What?" "Okay late last night I woke up to go pee. I go and do my business. Once I came back I heard weird rustling coming from your parents tent. I listened hard then I heard...moaning. I think you can figure it out from there." I face palmed myself and started giggling. "Oh my God!" I manage to get out. "It's not funny. The most frightening thing ever." "My poor baby. Forgive my parents for being in love. If only you knew the story on how they met." "Tell me." "You are gonna have to ask my dad that." I walked away and he followed behind me.
Everyone was eating and talking amongst themselves. "Hey Zac, how would you like to join us men out on a fishing trip?" asked my dad. "Uh, yeah." replied Zac. "Good. Be sure to bring extra clothes. Things tend to get a bit wet when we fish." He winked and I just rolled my eyes. I helped Zac pack up for the fishing trip while my dad and Val set up the boat. My brother, dad, and my uncle load up. Zac gives me a goodbye kiss and gets in. My dad starts rowing away.
Once the woman weren't looking Robert tosses the ores to Zac. "My arm just gave out. Your turn." said Robert smiling. Zac began rowing and smiled. Val chuckled to himself. "One thing you need to learn about my dad. You have to help." said Alex. He winks over at his father and grins. Zac had been rowing for a good fifteen minutes and already his arms were about to give out on him. "Okay Zac you stop right here." said Robert. Zac dropped the ores down beside him and began rubbing his shoulder. Val cast his line into the water, then Alex, and finally Robert. Zac took his fishing pole and tried to memic casting his line out. It didn't work. "Try standing up and casting. It's all in the wrist." said Val giving a smile in Robert's direction. "Okay." replied Zac. He went to stand up as the boat shaked a bit under him. He moved his wrist back a little and tried casting it again. Suddenly, the boat shook hard and Zac fell out of the boat still holding the fishing rod landing in the cold lake. He swims back up to hear the loud roars of laughter coming from the boat. Val leans over the boat and grins. "You're suppose to cast the line not your whole body." They started laughing again as Zac swam towards the boat. Robert reaches out a helping hand and Zac went to take it. Yet, before he could Robert pulled back and he sunk back under the water. He sumerged back up and continued to laugh. "Sorry, I wasn't ready that time." apologized Robert taking Zac's hand into his while pulling him. "You alright buddy?" "I'm fine." snapped Zac. "Hey don't get pissed. It was an accident." assured Val. "Oh really an accident? Bullshit!" "Watch your mouth!" yelled Robert. "How about I not? During this entire time you and your family have done nothing but humiliate me. Is this your way of saying you are not marrying my daughter?" "Why don't you calm down okay? My son is on this boat and he's nine years old." "Maybe this is a good thing. This could show your son not to follow in the footsteps of his crazy fucked up father!" Robert went to lunge at Zac but, Val held him back. "He's not worth it. Let's get this back to shore. Fishing has just been cancelled." said Val. Zac tossed the ores to Robert and looked away.
They arrived back to camp and Zac went to get off the boat. "I suggest you stay your ass right where it is. We are not finished here." shouted Val. He looked over at Alex and motioned him to leave. "Don't say nothing to your mother you hear me. Nor to Angela. Promise?" "Yes Uncle Val." Alex walked past Zac and glared at him. He stopped in front of him. "For second there, I thought you were a cool guy. I guess I was wrong. You don't deserve my sister. My dad is the greatest person in the whole wide world. It's jerks like you that don't take the time to see that." said Alex then turns and walks away. Robert and Val stood in front of Zac. "There is one thing that I do not tolerate and that's disrespectful pricks like you." sneered Robert. "That makes two of us." said Zac folding his arms in front of his chest. Robert clentched his fist beside him and stared Zac down. "I have never disrespected you. I have pulled harmeless pranks on you. But, I have never called you out of your name. Don't you ever say shit like that to my son. I thought you were a nice guy. I guess I was wrong. What happened on the boat was not our fault." "Stop trying to sugar coat this. Your a sorry excuse for a father." Robert back away feeling hurt. A tear escaped his eye. "Maybe I am. No father is perfect. You don't even know me. Therefore, you could never understand. Why don't you fuck yourself!" Robert stormed off down the shoreline of the lake and into the wood. Val shoved Zac causing him to fall. "You fucking little shit I ought to kick your ass! You don't know shit about what a good father is. That man has risked his life for his family numerous of times. The last fucking thing he needs is someone telling him he's a bad father. He's a wonderful father!" Val stormed off back to camp.
I see my uncle come back throwing the fishing rods on the ground hard. He looked pissed. "Honey, are you okay?" asked Amanda. "Why don't you ask that asshole name Zac?" he snapped. I looked at him puzzled. "Where's Robert at?" asked my mom. "He took off in the woods upset. Zac said some things to him and he just left. Maybe I should have let him punch that kid." I took off towards the lake to see Zac sitting on the sand. I stood in front of him with my hands on my hips glaring at him. "You want to explain to me what the fuck is going on?!" I asked shouting. "It was nothing." he replied lazily. "Bullshit! Start talking now!" "Look I said some mean things to your dad and that's all." "What did you tell him?!" "I told him he was a sorry excuse for a dad. He deserved it." I slapped him across his face. "Why in the fuck would you say that?! That's my father you are talking about. He is the most important person in the world to me! How dare you!" Zac just stood there refusing to look at me. "Where is he?!" "He took off into the woods." "I suggest you go find him and apologize." "He's the one who should be apologizing to me." "No! Go find him and fix this. If you nor my dad come back the engagement is off!" I stormed off back to camp. I can't believe Zac hurt my father the way he did. I love him with all my heart but, my dad is more important to me than anyone else in the world.
