I ran. The walls were falling down around me. The castle would be reduced to nothing but a pile of rubble by morning.
"Young Lord!" I heard my guard Cage call. "This way!" Father had already fallen and mother was missing. I grabbed Cage's hand and ran. Arrows whizzed past my head. We ran down staircases and into a dark corridor. The people behind us had vanished. I stumbled and nearly fell on the uneven floor. I was clueless as to what was going on. It was in the middle the night, a strange time to be running around the castle. We came to a sudden halt. I looked up at Cage as he grabbed a torch from the wall. The light of the fire lit up the small room we were in. There was a dark red crystal that rested in the middle, it was maybe the size of my palm. Footsteps came from beyond the walls.. We could tell they had found us. Cage handed the torch to me and began to cast a spell. I watched in awe. I had never seen magic before. I was to begin to learn it in a week. I wouldn't be learning magic in this world. A loud boom shook the walls around us. Cage's words faltered. His eyes went wide. Running to me, he yelled-
"Hold on to me my Lord!" I clutched his arm as the crystal began to glow. A beam shot out at us. I held my eyes closed as the world went light, then faded to black.
My eyes opened slightly. Strange noises surrounded me. I sat up and saw Cage's face. He made a seemingly forced a smile.
"My young Lord.." he paused. "We're not in Hordijn anymore." I stood up with him. His blue eyes started into my green ones.
"Stay here." he said. I nodded and sat down. I was six at the time. My bed clothes were torn and dirty from the trip through the world portal. I observed my surroundings. The place where we were was dirty and smelled, unlike the palace I lived in. There were two tall walls parallel from eachother. I looked one way and it was all dark. The other way, there were strange moving carriages with no horses. I resisted the urge to walk out and look around more. There were also strange torches. From what I could tell, no fire lit them. A person walked by and startled me. I backed up and tripped before falling into something. Whatever I hit made a lot of noise. When I looked back up the person was looking at me. There were actually a few, three female with one male.
One walked toward me. I backed up. She stopped waking and kneeled.
"It's okay. Where your mother?" She said. I continue starting. Mother was probably dead. My eyes filled with tears, but I refused to cry. I wiped my eyes on my sleeves. My black hair swayed in the slight wind. The girl attempted to come closer. I backed up even more.
"Louis you're scaring him!" one other said. I looked up at her. She has black hair. Like mother. The male's hair was a light chestnut, like father's. I started to cry, running at the one guy. He stepped back in surprise as I hugged his legs.
"Mary!" he yelled. "What do I do?!" He reached down and grabbed me, prying my arms of. He let me go and backed up, staring at something behind me.
"What're you looking at Luke?" the black haired girl said turning around. She froze. I looked. Cage stood there, staring at the boy. We walked forward and grabbed his arm. He yelled.
"OW! Dude stop!" he yelled, trying to get away from Cage.
"Someone call the cops!" one of the girls grabbed something out of her bag and began poking at it.
"Stop." I said. If I had let it go on, he would've broken his arm. Though they were the same height, Cage had a slight advantage, but the male kid could fight. The girl who hadn't talked yet picked me up. I yelped and Cage froze. He looked directly at her. The black haired girl was frantically talking to the thing she pulled out of her bag. The blond girl holding me backed up as he walked towards us. The other male kicked him. 'Martial arts?' I thought, looking at his position. He was slightly knocked back. He once again looked at the girl holding me.
"Unhand him." he started. The girl held me tighter. I didn't know what to do.
"That is Lucifer the fourth, seventh prince of the kingdom Hordijn." he said. She did nothing, but they looked at him as if he had just grown a second head.
Minutes of silence seemed like hours before I decided at reach out Cage. One of the moving self-moving carriages stopped. It has strange torches on top that flashed. A man got out and held something in his direction.
"Put your hands up!" he yelled. Why didn't he cast a spell? That's when I realized it. There wasn't the normal hum off magic energy in the air. I hadn't realized it because of the new sounds. A few more carriages came and more people came out. I was so shocked that I couldn't speak. Cage walked toward them and grabbed one by the neck. There was shouting as Cage opened his mouth to speak, but he couldn't. A loud bang rang through the small space. Cage fell to the floor. My eyes widened and I stared. The man who attacked him came over to me as the girl covered my eyes. The man grabbed me. I cried out.
"Lemme go!" I yelled. He looked at me and spoke.
"Don't worry son , we're going to find your parents." he said. I yelled again again.
"Put me down! Mommy and Daddy are dead!" he looked at me. "They were killed!" the man looked at me. One of the girls burst into tears. I looked back. "Don't cry.." I started. She came over and hugged me.
"Officer, I pretty sure my family would be more than willing to adopt him if need be." she said. He nodded.
"Come to the station tomorrow, bring your parents with." he said.
I stared at the girl and looked where Cage lay. The hum of magic filled the air.
"No!" I yelled. But it was too late. With a flash of light, he disappeared. Everyone looked at where he use to be. One of the men dressed like the one who now held me ran forward.
"Where'd he go?!" he yelled.
"Close off the area and search!" another yelled. Suddenly a thought hit me.

Cage was most likely dead.

The only familiar thing in this world was gone. Tears fell from my eyes as I silently cried.
