Her laugh was the first thing to break the silence of the car ride. It wasn't like it was an awkward silence. More like, a tired silence. The kind of silence that doesn't hang in the air, but, more like it isn't there. Some car rides are better unspoken, and it's not like the two girls had anything better to talk about. There really was nothing to talk about really, considering it was the first year that they were finally the top of everyone. Well, not everyone. But still, you get the picture.
I'm going to be a Senior, that's the statement that woke up the girl whos hands clutched the steering wheel with anticipation. It almost flowed through her. She was practically calm until the girl beside her spoke up.
"What if you see and you-know-who?" She questioned, looking over at her with almost accusing eyes. She knew exactly what the other had meant by that silly name. Her grip tightened on the wheel she clutched, her breath catching in the back of her throat.
"What about him." She spoke up.
I'm sure this is a perfect time to tell you a little bit about what's going on.
The girl driving? Yeah, that's Emily. She's 17, and just glad to be leaving soon, to get away from him.
The conversation provoking girl in the passenger seat? That's Avis, also 17, and couldn't care less about leaving.
Lastly, "Him" refers to Alexander Gaskarth. Oh, Alexander. Dirty blonde, big brown eyes and oh that voice. With the ambition to match. I'm sure you're wondering, why Emily could hate someone like that? Well, you'll see.
"Oh, you know." Was Emilys very vague reply before they pulled into Dulaney High School.
With a sigh, Avis nodded "I get it. Ready?"
She turned her head to the other girl, nodding in the slightest before slipping out of the car.
The two girls walked next to each other, in step, not really sure what was going to happen or who was exactly going to be there.
Emily turned her head, taking in the surroundings of the school she had known perfectly, just three months before. Emily with her medium length auburn, basically red hair, with beautiful hazel eyes. She was 80 percent lazy and 20 percent hopeful for life. She did enjoy one thing about this school, more than anything, and that was the parties. Being very stubborn, as you can see and she's not afraid to tell you exactly how she feels.
Avis, the girl beside her was almost a polar opposite of the girl, very dark, long brown hair and matching brown eyes. Much shorter than the other, and quiet, usually buried in a book. Except the times in which Emily would drag her to a party.
Emily was the one to open the doors to the building. They pushed through some Freshman, rolling their eyes together before laughing.
They had taken a seat at the bench that they usually do, every year. Both of them pulling out their schedules before a large amount of commotion captures Emily's attention. Snapping her head up she rolls her eyes once again, knowing what it was.
It was Alex.
Yeah, that Alex.
He pushed through the doors and waved at a lot of people he didn't even know the names of. Jack right in tow. Jack was all smiles, as usual.
Alex, was in fact, still just as popular as he was back in kindergarten. The only distinct differences were that his accent had died down and people didn't trade juice boxes with him, but now it was 'favors' or other things which would give his poor mother a heart attack.
She could almost get up and punch the motherfuc-
"Hey! Please don't tell me you're glaring at who I think you are." That, was the voice of someone they both knew very well. Michael. He had been friends with them since about seventh grade. Lebanese, just like Jack. Short, very dark brown hair that was always perfect. He was thin framed, and damn. I'm sure most girls would be all over him. Well, if it weren't for the fact that he didn't exactly swing that way.
"Hey you! And yeah, I am. You know how much I hate him. Just look at him, walking around here like he owns the damn place."
"Now, now Emily." Michael tsked, wedging himself between the two girls, and putting each arm around them.
"I can't help it."
"He does have a very arrogant feel to him." Avis said, looking over at them, before looking back at her schedule. "It's a wonder that Jack is still friends with someone like that. He's got such a nice attitude."
"Yeah, well Alex better drop his." Emily mumbled, eyes moving back to Alex as he walked toward them. He certainly did have an attitude to him. The way his hips moved, his jeans riding low and his flannel hugging him perfectly, and who could forget hi-
She looked up at Michael, who was watching the other boy walk right passed them with a smug look on his face.
"Michael!" She gasped, lightly hitting him in the chest when she realized that he was staring at that arsehole of a boy.
This caused him to start laughing "What? Can't I just have a look?"
"Of course you can, now let's go or we'll be late!" Avis jumps up, pulling them with her. Michael let go and walked backwards, looking at them as he crossed his arms.
"So, did I miss anything while I was gone?" He asked.
Sometime in the summer Michael had gone back to France to visit. He used to live in France before he came to America. His parents even offered to have him stay with them from now on. Of course, he politely decilned, for he had made friends with two young girls. Surprisingly, his parents were perfectly fine with that, and told him that he could have them over some time.
"Nothing." Was both of their reply. Shrugging, Emily just smiled, being happy that the other boy had gone away and down the hall.
"Well, that's very fun." Michael rolling his eyes (not so seriously), knowing damn well that something had to have happened during the summer.
But in all honestly, nothing had really happened. Other than, Emily and Avis spent a lot of days, alternating between the two girls homes. When They weren't basically glued to the hip, Avis spent time with her boyfriend, Matt. Jack would occasionally come over as well. You see, Jack was in a lot better terms with the two. He too, got annoyed with his blonde 'best friend'.
And with all the small talk, the three moved into their classes.
Everything was pretty good so far. Until she noticed one particlar boy in her first hour class.
And of course, it had to be him.
Alex.
