Chapter 2:A letter

Mr Shigami was busy excavating a tomb when suddenly a rockfall happened...

Taku's P.O.V.

"Mr Shigami!Mr Shigami!"I called,running around the rockfall.Where is he?

We were busy trying to excavate a tomb when a sudden rockfall happened.In my panic,I ran out without bothering to look if anyone from the team was alright.Now,I'm paying for my mistake.Where is he?

"I found him,Ms.Tabuchi,"One of the team members brought him out.He was dead.Oh no...The team fell silent as they look at the team leader's motionless body.What am I going to tell his son?

His son!I grabbed my locket.Phew,it was still there.I have to give its contents to his son,Samuru.I promised him that,a couple of years ago...

Flashback

We were working on another ruin at night.I was just taking a rest when suddenly Mr Shigami pulled me to the side.

"Taku,I want you to give this to my son if anything happens to me.Keep it safe,"he said,placing a sheet of paper in my hands.

"Why?Can't you give it to him yourself,now?"I asked.

"No,not now.And I trust you to give it to him.We've been friends for a long time,Taku,"he said.

I looked at him.There was something he wasn't telling me.

"Why are you so sure that something bad will happen to you?"

He took a glance at me.It was clear that I wasn't going to budge until he told me why. 

He sighed and said,"The dark side,the shadows.They would want my son to be dead.First,they will kill me so there's no one to protect him.They-I don't want anything to happen to him.After everything he has done,I want him to live happily."

He still has the fatherly love for his son behind that tough side that he chose to show.I knew I had to give the letter. 

And now was the time to do so.

Samuru's P.O.V

"That girl is really powerful.That single shot..."Dravise commented.

It as sundown and the crossfire had ended.I was sitting on a park bench. 

I just nodded at Dravise's words.I was about to say more when suddenly,my phone rang.I picked it up.It was Ms Tabuchi,one of my father's friends.

"Hello.Is this Mr Shigami's son?"she asked.

"Um yeah,"I muttered.Why is she calling me? 

 "Your father..."she trailed off.What had happened to him?

"There was a rockfall.No one could help,"she said,her voice shaking,"Your father was crushed under the rocks.I'm sorry but ..."

"But what?"From the tone of her voice,it must be something bad.

I as if a dam broke inside me,as if my world had shattered to pieces.Even though my father was tough on mehe was still my father...

"He gave me a letter a long time ago for safekeeping.He told me to  give it you if anything were to happen to him.Can you meet me at your house please?Just for a while,"she continued. 

I was still trying to control the storm inside me.

"Samuru?"Ms Tabuchi sounded worried. 

I forced down the lump in my throat. 

"Sure..."I said and cut the call. 

"Your father's dead?"Dravise asked,his voice shaking. 

It was rare to hear him like that but it was scarcely odd since my father helped in creating him.Without my father,he probably would not have been around at all.
