Four hours later I am aloud to get out of bed. I get up and start to do my chores, which I am very behind on. Quinn has been with Vina a lot. I am worried about her. What if something happens to Vina? Quinn can not take that again, and neither can I.

I wish there was someone to talk to. Quinn and I would normally play games when we were bored, but she is never home anymore. ERAA constantly tries to cheer me up, but she is easily fooled with a smile and quick thank you. Quinn is the only person I have aloud myself to get close to, and now I may be losing her too.

..........

A week later, I am finally released from house arrest. I immediately ask ERAA where Azura lives, I want to find her and thank her for helping me at the town meeting. She lives closer to town, only a half hour walk from where I live.

Azura's house was exactly like everyone else's. Thatched roof, clay walls, probably a dirt or stone floor. The only difference was the flowers. There were flowers everywhere on the house. I only recognized the Anemone flower, they grow everywhere here.

I knock on the door, and wait. I hear shuffling inside the house. A curtain is pulled aside to reveal an eye, then it closes. I shift my weight from one foot to the other. There is more shuffling and voices. The voices get louder, and I can make out words.

"...see...friend!"

"She...trouble...not...leave."

"...can't...do,"

"Yes...and..will."

The door is yanked open and I jump back.

"Leave, you are not welcome here." A burly woman snaps, moving to close the door.

"I am here to see Azura," I reply, ignoring her. I jam my foot in the door. "May I come in?"

"No." the woman says, trying harder to shut the door.

I wince as my foot is crushed. "Can you at least give her a message?" I plead, trying to peer past the woman blocking the crack in the door.

The woman moves to cover the crack better. "Leave, or I will report you."

I shrink back. "Go ahead," I bluff "you will have to leave the house to go to town." I try to hide the shaking of my voice. I just got off house arrest, I can't have a mark.

She grumbles, and kicks my foot out of the door and slams it. I sit down outside the door and curse, rubbing my foot. This is going to leave a bruise.

I stand and walk around to the back of the house. I want to find out what is going on with the woman, and why she was with Azura. The house is exactly like mine, and thankfully has a tree outside the second story window, like everyone else's.

I climb the tree, it is easy after years of practice with Quinn. I peer through the window and see a dark room with a bed and desk, but no people.

I open the window and silently roll inside. I close the window and listen, I don't hear anyone. I creep slowly across the floor. I move steadily to the door. Ten feet, eight feet, five, three. The floor creaks, shrill and ear-splitting in the silence.

I glance at the door, two more steps, so close. I take one more step and test for creaky floorboards. Footsteps bang up the stairs. My heart is pounding in my chest. I dive under the bed, praying no one comes in.
