The Stills or Mizzles are creatures born from darkness, believed to have come from another world... Or even be drops of something much bigger. (More information on that on page 35)
They are creatures (pictured above in an artist's illustration) -- with a single red eye and a default black round body. The number of points extending from their focal represent how strong and how long they've existed.
There have been sightings of Mizzles having ten points before by veterans -- if you see any... be wary because if you are not well equipped, experienced enough or alone... You could become food for the very thing you were fighting!
The reason for the increase of their tendrils is to increase their surface area to efficiently increase absorption of the emotions.
Mizzles instinctively will keep feeding -- forever, even -- unless stopped or purified. They can be active any time of the day, but we will always recommend you all to hunt around 6 pm - midnight to be able to extinguish the most Mizzles at the same time. (More information on how to cure a case of Mizzles on page 36.)
There are two types of Mizzles.
The enhancers are the Mizzles that cause the targeted person to feel much worse than they should be or make them act worse depending on the emotion they twisted around.
A group of enhancers will cultivate the person subjected to start deteriorating from the stress of emotions. In extreme cases, the subject could die from a heart attack.
However, if you maintain constant hunting schedule (we also have suggestions on the organization of your hunting schedule on page 36), this won't usually happen. The spawn rate of enhancers are low enough to prevent this phenomenon from happening frequently... yet enough to cause at least one problem per hunting session or every few days.
Messy Eaters are Mizzles that spread the affected negative emotions when they feed.
Mizzles are like piranhas. Once the ravenous things sense a drop of blood, they go crazy and swarm the source for a taste and bite or more.
Messy Eaters are the most common and act strikingly like them. The Enhancers are much more civil piranhas that just make the "dish" more appealing.
The Messy Eaters only attract to negative emotions -- they will not be the ones to spread happiness.
The dish served to these fiends are spaghetti. The frenzy feeding behavior of Messy Eaters consists of flinging the sauce and bits of pasta around the surrounding area. The stronger, the greater the range of bad mood made.
Although Messy Eaters are not as serious and dangerous as Enhancers can be, if they multiply enough -- a whole city can be put into a bad mood and cause adverse effects on health and the crime rate.
The environment you will be fighting in depends on the array of emotions the Mizzles consume.
They can corrupt: happiness, sadness, anxiety, anger, lust, love, fear, hate and etc. (More happy emotions are corrupted by Enhancers only.)
Disclaimer: The Stills only increase the severity of a bad mood of one or more persons or spread an existing mood through a specific area. They do not cause mental or physical illnesses although long term exposure to Mizzles can cause similar symptoms to mental illness and deter recovery to any illnesses.
You cannot use your powers to directly cure mental or physical illnesses (unless your power is relating to healing but that is a rare power in magical girls and has limits too).
You under no circumstances have no right to diagnose anyone unless you are a trained professional, although even trained professionals can make mistakes.
