Note: Around two weeks ago, a poet came into my English class. He encouraged trying out all different styles of writing and gave us a prompt to free-write about. The prompt was simply "The noise of the invisibles". Because it was a free-write, it's pretty long and does not rhyme, but this is the product of it. Enjoy :)

***

The noise of the invisibles is

Her whispers in the night

to no one

in particular.

The noise of the invisibles is

The screams of frustration

From a lost child.

The noise of the invisibles

is as silent as them.

The noise of the invisibles is

In your head

When you least expect.

Because you do not expect

to be

an invisible.

The noise of the invisibles is

When he whimpers

Alone.

The noise of the invisibles

Can only be seen

When you are

The noise

of the invisibles

At your weakest state

When your silent conscious

Is at it's strongest.

The noise of the invisibles is

When he tells her he loves her

While in his room

Alone.

The noise of the invisibles

Is the king

Down on his knees

His crown on the floor

The noise of the invisibles

Is suffocating her.

She's choking

lost pride.

The noise of the invisibles is

Deadly.

The noise of the invisibles is silent

When we are.

But

The noise of the invisibles

Is very loud

When it is in

Your own head.

The noise of the invisibles is when

She takes her little sister's hand

And tells her

Her brother will be okay.

The noise of the invisibles

is when

He is not.

The noise of the invisibles is

the river

Where the girl weeps

the noise of invisible sorrow

The noise of the invisibles

is the loud shouts

Of a mother

Who doesn't

Understand.

The noise of the invisibles

Can be heard

If the invisible

Is known

To you.

The noise of the invisibles

Is a silent knowing

of nothingness

That means

So much

To the invisibles.
