Days passed. Each morning we would go to the stream, washing and refilling our water bags. We had determined that this valley could be our home, but we needed to find seeds and plants that would help us to live. We found that more baskets would be required, we now had several with lids filled with seeds, being saved for future planting. The goats and sheep seemed satisfied that we would return, and did not always follow us. The cats, of course, continued to do their own thing, leaving each morning and returning at their pleasure, willing to be scratched behind the ears and petted.

The animals around us were willing to live near us. Beavers began to cut trees and build a pond. Elk and moose wandered past. Birds and small animals chittered and sang, even when we were near. Life seemed good. We had seen most of the surrounding country, and our valley was best for us. We began calling it Home Valley.

One day, we knelt in prayer, before again moving out to seek food. Adam raised his hands, and spoke, “Oh God, hear me this day. We thank thee for the goodness of this earth; for the water and the vegetation that has helped us to provide food for ourselves. We thank thee for the animals who keep us company, and the others who fill our lives with joy. We thank thee for the clothing thou didst provide, to cover our bodies, to keep them warm, to protect them.”

A voice came from the direction of Eden. We recognized it—it was the voice of Jehovah, our Lord and our God.

“Adam, you have done well in beginning to tame the earth, to labor for your food. However, there is one thing that you have not done. You have not kept my Sabbath.”

“Sabbath, Lord? What is your Sabbath? If I had known, I would have kept it.” Adam fell on his face, tears streaming from his eyes. “I covenanted to obey thy will. I do not know of the Sabbath.”

“The Sabbath is the seventh and the holy day, upon which we rested. I will tell you of the creation of this earth. That will help you to understand our Sabbath.

In awe, we listened to Jehovah. As He spoke, we could see the things of which he spoke.

“Father,Eloheim called me—Jehovah, Michael, and others of those who had achieved great knowledge and near godhood, but who had not yet received bodies.

‘Look. There is matter without form or function. Go down and form a world of it for thy use and return and report.’

‘We will obey,’ we gladly answered.

We looked, and saw a swirling mass of elements, rocks, parts of previous worlds, no longer needful for any habitation, and destroyed. This we combined together, forming a world, hot with the joining. Fires burned from within. The world was not anything man could inhabit, but it was what had been commanded that we form. We returned to Eloheim and reported our success.

Father saw what we had done, and called it good. That was the first day of this earth.

Father again called to those of us who had formed this earth, saying, ‘Go down to the earth you have formed, and divide the waters from the earth. Separate the waters from the heavens from the waters of the earth, and return and report.’

‘We will obey’ we said, and returned to the earth we had formed, and together we separated the waters, those above the earth from those upon the earth. We separated the waters from the land, forming great mountain, and low plains, hills, and glens; great oceans, large rivers and small streams. We looked upon the earth that we were forming, and saw that this would be good for man. Returning to Father, we reported all the things we had accomplished.

‘It is well,’ He replied. That was the second day of this earth.

Again, Father called upon us. ‘Go down to the earth that you have formed and divided. Divide the light from the darkness. Set the lights in the heavens. The greater will you call the sun, and it will light the day. The lesser will you call the moon, and it will light the night. The stars you will also set in the heavens to light and give definition to the heavens at night.’
