Leo has been overly happy for the past few days that he sometimes get caught smiling and giggling to himself.The image of his 'girlfriend' that he recently met is still fresh in his mind.Sitting on a chair in the crowded library with a book wide opened in front of him,Leo only has one thing in his mind.Lucy!
He turns his head to the left and right before sneakily takes out his cellphone from his side pocket.With his body slightly pulled to the back,Leo looks down while his finger is busy scrolling down the previous texts from Lucy.As his eyes following the texts on the screen,a dimple formed on his cheek.
Hiding behind a large pillar of concrete painted in white,Lucas scans his surrounding looking for a familiar face.He squints his eyes,narrowing his sight to the students passing by.When he is sure that there is no Leo spotted within his vision perimeters,Lucas heaves a relief sigh . He has been monitoring his surrounding ever since he knows that Leo attending the same university.That guy even go as far as wearing glasses to classes.
After their short date,Lucas been receiving tons of texts from his so called boyfriend.Leo is still the same as he was when they first exchanged their e-mails,ever so caring and sweet toward Lucas ; also known in his female persona as Lucy.
"Uh-"
Lucas almost bump into a female student when he is about to leave the building.
"What are you doing sir?" Joy asks while stretching out her neck,looking at crowd of students at the front yard.
"N..nothing" Lucas stutters over a word.He quickly shifts his body as Joy walks over.
"You are acting so suspicious sir.Hmmmm..." Joy rubs her chin,acting as if she is thinking when she already knows the truth.
"Oh look!Isn't that Leo's girlfriend?What is she doing with Prof. Yao?"
Chatter noises coming from a group of female students distracting both Lucas and Joy.They turn their heads,shifting their attention toward those female students.
"I bet she is flirting with him" comments another female student as they look at Joy and Lucas with a sneer on their faces.
"Students,don't you..........."
Lucas words fail to fall from his mouth as he watches Joy slowly approaching those students while folding her sleeves.Making her way as she squeezes in between them,circling her arms around female students on her right and left side.
"Kids,should i teach you some manner?" Joy says in a stern tone of voice.Her grip getting tighter,causing those students to feel slightly uncomfortable.They exchange glances among themselves,trying to escape from Joy's clutch.Rumor has it,that Joy isn't someone to mess with and today they all learn their lesson.
Lucas blinks his eyes as he standing still,not knowing on how to response accordingly.More importantly,the word 'girlfriend' seems to bother him.If Joy is Leo's girlfriend then who is he?Or rather,who is Lucy? With those thoughts lingering in his mind,Lucas suddenly feels irritated.His changed expression can clearly be seen by onlookers.
"Sir?"
Lucas snaps from drowning in this own thoughts.
"Your expression doesn't look good"
Joy slightly tilts her head as she leans in closer to have a better look.
"Wha..what about those students?" Lucas takes few steps back while pretending to be busy looking around.
"They ran away" Joy let out a small laugh.
"Then,i should be going now"
Lucas leaves in hurry.Instead of looking to the front,he looks down at his own moving feet.His unsteady fast movement causing him tripping over his own feet.Just like a scene exerted from a movie,a pair of arms thrown in his way at the exact moment and catches Lucas before his body make contact with the ground.
Books scattered around.Onlookers turning their head with their mouth left hanging.Lucas shuts his eyes tight.Leo is holding his breath,trying to swallow the pain on his back.Joy running forward while screaming.
"Geez guys,are you alright?" Joy asks followed by heavy pant,trying to catch her breath.
Leo lifts up his arms,placing them on top of Lucas's shoulder as he lightly shake his body.There is no response from Lucas.He lies on top of Leo,not moving an inch.Joy stretches out her hand,poking Lucas' back with her finger.Still,no response from him.
"Stop waking me up,this is too embarrassing" Lucas whisperers while clutching his teeth.
"Ohhhhh"
Both Leo and Joy simultaneously nod their head.People start to crowd in,trying to get a better view. They send telepathy among themselves,planning a way to escape from the situation.
"OH LOOK!THE DEAN IS COMING"
Joy shouts,pointing her finger toward her 3 o'clock.Students quickly shift their attention, looking panic as they chatter among themselves. The trio quickly take the opportunity to run away from the scene. Lucas and Joy help Leo by supporting him as they bolt off far from the crowded place.
Once they reach safer place,Joy tosses Leo away as she kneels on the ground.
"I am so exhausted,i think i have used up all of my energy" she complaints.Her unsteady breath preventing her from further talk.
Both Leo and Lucas have their hands on their knees,bending their body 90 degree while catching their breath.
"Thank you for saving me" says Lucas,in between his heavy breathing.
Leo simply waves his hand,he lost the will to talk considering how bad his back hurt right now.He pulls his body,straighten his back.
It's weird they both of them haven't get to look properly at each other considering what they just went through.
Lucas straighten his back,finally able to breath steadily.He takes a quick glance at Leo before rotating his body to the opposite direction.
"It's him!I have been avoiding him for days,just why do i get involved in this situation" Lucas scolds himself in whispering tone.
"You look familiar" remarks Leo,now that he has better look at the person who just fell right on top of him.
Joy immediately rise her head,making her way toward Leo and wrapping her arm around his.
"We should get you to the clinic now in case you broke any bone" says Joy with an awkward smile on her face.
"I feel okay" replies Leo but Joy insist on taking him to the clinic as she forcefully drags Leo away.
Lucas steals a glance at them as they slowly getting further away.
"They look close and intimate,perhaps they are a couple" Lucas sighs.
"But then,what does that got to do with me?It's a good thing,now i have reason to break up with him" Lucas clutches his fist,feeling determine but just for a while.
"Why do i feel irritated?Urgh,i think i broke my leg"
Lucas slowly walks in the opposite direction,with a mixed feeling stirring inside him.
