Charlotte's POV

I sit on the plane and read my book. This is the third time I have read The Fault in Our Stars but it still makes me cry. I am sitting next to a business man that is on his laptop. He looks over at me bewildered as I burst into tears over this sad book.

My friends always make fun of how emotionally attached I get to characters. Books are my escape from normal life. They are were I can live a life way more interesting than my own. I continue to have an attack of feels and more tears roll down my face.

My Mom looks at me from across the plane and gives me a curious look. I pick up my book to show her what I am reading and she gives me an understanding look. Book obsession runs in the family.

I continue reading my book and try to keep my emotions at bay. This is a very hard task for me. We are almost in New York and I am extremely excited. I can just imagine the busy streets and the towering skyscrapers. This is going to be a whole new adventure.

I finish my book and look out the window. I can hardly contain my excitement. We will be staying in Manhattan. We will also be staying with my mother's friends. They have a son about my age and a daughter a couple years older. I hope they like me. What is they are the popular type.

I do not want to spend my break with that kind. I already have enough to deal with as it is. I wish I could have Alice with me right now. She would love this. I guess we can't get everything we want. I notice that we are about to touch down so I gather my book into my bag. I exit the plane and meet my parents. I have a giant grin on my face. I am here. This is happening.

I look around at the busy airport and I spot a man in a suit holding up a sign that says Scott Family. I thought one of my Mom's friends was picking us up. That is strange.

"You must be Mr. and Mrs. Scott. I am here to take you to the Colton residence." My parents look surprised but follow him anyways.

He takes us to a limo and I am surprised at the elegant accommodations. I have never been in a limo before. I have a feeling that the people we will be staying with are pretty rich.

I look out the window at the busy city. Taxi cabs zoom by and people walk and talk on the side walk. I see towering skyscrapers and eager vendors. This place is so alive. I feel so alive. I feel like I have been inside a box my whole life but am finally set free. We come to the penthouse where we will be staying. It is to say the least huge. Tom helps us carry our stuff up. We are greeted at the front door by a smiling face.

"Julie! How are you?" My Mom's friend exclaims. "You look great! This must be the daughter I have heard so much about?" She has on a very expensive looking designer outfit. She also has a distinct british accent that makes her even more fancy.

I introduce myself and engage in a barrage of questions concerning the last sixteen years of my life. A handsome man that looks around my Mom's age comes into the room. A wide grin spreads across my Mom's face.

She runs up to him and they embrace in a big hug. They look like they have known each other their whole life. My dad has a hint of jealously in his eyes. This is weird. They are still hugging and my Dad clears his throat. He looks at my Dad and comes over to him and shakes his hand. He then looks over to my Mom.

"It is great to see you Julie, It has been too long." My Mom gives him a big smile. "This must be Hank and Charlotte. I am so happy to see you guys."
