I got off the bus and started walking down the street, luckily my house was only five minutes from the bus stop - including our agonizingly long driveway.
My bookbag weighed heavily on my shoulder and I cringed as I remeber the two hundred word essay I had to write for English. How oh how am I going to write two hundred words on.... I can't even remember what, AND deal with my mothers new husband moving in.
Last month my mother remarried to a guy she met while on a trip to Italy, though he's not Italian. He was on a business trip there. But since he lives in New York, and we live in Vancouver, this month has revovled around preparing for his arrival and having half of his stuff being flown to our house at random times and mom re-orginizing everything when something else arrives. Now he's finally coming to live with us and the maddness can stop.
"Taylor!" I spun around to see my best friend Elle walking towards me.
"Hey" I greeted her as she came withing hearing distance.
"What's up with the moving trucks? I thought all of Adams' things were already here." She asked looking down my driveway.
I turned to see THREE large moving trucks parked outside my house. I gaped.
"Wha..." I trailed off.
I dropped my bag and started running towards my house.
"Tay! TAY!" Elle called after me as I heard her footfalls behind me.
I rushed past the movers and in through our house to find my mom and Adam.
"What's going on, I thought all Adams things were here?" I asked my mother as I put my hands on my knees and tried to steady my breathing.
I hate running.
But I needed to know what was going on.
Mom smiled at me, but she looked nervous. She looked from Me to Elle and then to Adam.
"Honey, there's something I haven't told you..." Mom said looking into my eyes.
"What is it?" I questioned worriedly.
I hadn't seen mom this nervous since she told me about the car accident...
"Well, you see....Adam's ex-wife, Marie, had an accident and will be in the hospital for quiet some time. So their kids need somewhere to stay and well-"
I cut her off by holding up my hand.
"How many?" I asked hesitantly. She looked at her hands.
"Three..." She answered quietly.
I gasped.
"So you mean to tell me that there's going to be THREE more kids in this house!?" I raised my voice.
She nodded.
I know it seems I'm over reacting. I mean, it's only three kids right?
WRONG.
You see, that's just three more people that will be sharing this house, considering my FOUR brothers that just so happen to be living here.
"That's...one, two, three..." I counted off in my head. "EIGHT! EIGHT KIDS!" I yelled.
"Sweetheart I'm sorry. I know things are hectic enough in this house, but-" She wrapped an arm around Adams' waist. "I love Adam, and I would be willing to take in eleven children if it meant being with him." She stated, smiling up at Adam who beamed back down at her.
I sighed. I guess three more kids wouldn't hurt. I mean, if it makes mom happy.
"Do you have any daughters?" I asked hopefully.
